The two times I've been to Burger Inn I found the burgers quite greasy. Not a little greasy or that satisfying amount of greasy that can make a burger or similar food fun to indulge on, but VERY greasy. Should I give it another shot?
I also do enjoy the pub/lounge type atmosphere over a joint/diner like place, if you were to compared a place like Tommy's to Burger Inn. However, doesn't mean I don't go to those places at all. I was just not impressed with the burgers there. Although all I've ever heard is rave reviews. Did I just go on a bad day perhaps?

An Ottawa burger joint, the Works is apparently franchising everywhere and they are planning on expanding to Calgary. I highly recommend you try it once it gets there. It's more of a sit down place, and the pricing is certainly on the higher end of things (about $20 for a burger, side and milkshake) but you'll be full for the rest of the day afterwards. They have a lot of interesting topping combinations that they put together, plus their milkshakes are awesome.

I have to say, I quite like the burger at the Heartland Cafe in Okotoks. It's a "ladies who lunch" kind of place (old church), but the burger is large (1/2 lb) and tasty, if somewhat pricy ($14). In addition to the basic ingredients, you get a pick of two "premium" toppings - I go with bacon and mushrooms. I am by no means a "burger" guy, but I recommend this one.

The onions were a great side, and the selections of sides in general were far better than 5 Guys. The service and decor were also superior to 5 Guys.
Smashburger was doing brisk business today in the mid afternoon, but the line up moved fairly quick.

yes i totally agree with you about on par with 5 guys
i tried it out for lunch today and boy were they busy, kind of disapointed they didnt do pick up orders.
I had the bbq bacon cheddar burger and a milkshake downside it is a bit greasy but the burger was flavourful topped it off with a milkshake

One of the hot food trends in the market these days is burgers. (Yes, wait long enough and everything comes around again.)
But the 2012 version of the burger is not the pre-frozen, pre-cooked, pre-fabbed burger of yesteryear. Today’s fast food burgers are about fresh beef, grilled just for you, and loaded with your choices.

Jiri,
Inglewood has a few more decent burger joints, Eat Eat! and I heard the fine diner that just opened up has a kick ass burger.

I pretty much agree with the assessment - I did a smash/5guys back2back (days not right away) and 5 guys is still king for the US chains. I felt greasier leaving Smash than I did after 5 guys and killed a large cajun fries to boot.

I just tried Naina's. Had the pulled pork and swiss stuffed burger.
I'm not sure how to review this......I've never had something taste that good, but is it a burger? It's like a flavour explosion in my mouth, and the weird part is that as big as it is (was) it didn't fall apart at all. It certainly does defy the laws of physics, as that bun mops up all the sauces and grease, and squishes down without tearing apart. Although I might not rate it as high as 5 guys, it's still pretty damn spectacular. It's a big, greasy, tasty piece of awesome. Different than somewhere like Rocky's, whose burger I find to be a little bland and dry, but huge. My opinion I guess.
I did chat with the owner, and she's pretty stoked about burgerquest. Apparently she's been crazy busy since your guys' review went out, which is cool as it's a tiny little hole in the wall cafe that looks like it cost about $500 to decorate. I hope she does well.
Now excuse me while I go have a heart attack.

Don't know about Eat Eat, but I had the burger at The Fine Diner a couple of weeks ago and it was OMG good. The meat tasted freshly ground, the toppings were yummy. Better than average bun too.

Tried Boogies last week.
Neat place and cool atmosphere.
Burger was good. Bit disappointed with the bun though. Was fairly cold and would have been better toasted.

Had a burger at Clive's on Sunday. It was packed because of the Lilac festival but they were turning out burgers really fast. I like the coaster that light's up when your burger is ready too. The Burger itself, a single, was pretty good but it is pretty small for 7 bucks and probably would have been worth it upsizing to a double burger. Fresh toppings, Clive's sauce, real cheese and a tasty bun made up for it though. The ordering is like that of 5 guy's burger and fries. One order of fries is good enough to feed 2 people and you choose your toppings from a pretty big list for your burger. The Cherry Shake was the best part of the thing though. 8/10 and I would go back again for sure.

I liked Smashburger more than 5 guys, I had the Calgary burger and it was very tasty. Just the right amount of a little too greasy
The onions side really was too greasy, and they didn't give a fork to go.
Currently my favorite, the laurier lounge burger is just too rich for me.
