In other Canadian tennis news, maybe we should start keeping a closer eye on 18 year old Marina Stakusic who just won an ITF tourney in Toronto. She raised her ranking 61 spots this week up to #257 in the world.
17 year old Victoria Mboko also had a good week losing in the semi-finals of the same tournament and she raised her ranking 33 places to #322 in the world.

Gaby and Erin are taking on Coco and Jpeg in doubles currently in Cancun. Gaby/Erin won the first set in a tie-break and are up a break in set 2.

I didn't see that match, but I heard Sabalenka played out of her mind. You still don't expect to see a scoreline of 6-0 6-1

It got a little tense, but Gaby/Erin knock off Coco/Jpeg 7-6 6-3 to kick off their WTA Finals.
Edit: Match point was excellent, Gaby was running all over the place.

Just a FYI, if you enjoy watching one-handed backhands, Stan will be taking on Dominic Thiem later today in Paris. This might be one of the last chances to see Stan in action. Thiem came through qualies beating Sonego and O'Connell to make the Paris main draw.

Is this going to be another soul crushing Andy Murray loss to Alex De Minaur? Andy was up 5-2 in set 3 and ADM has won four straight games.
Edit: Make it five straight games

It's nice to see him playing within himself again and not overhitting shots over and over again. This win is pretty significant for many reasons, none less than showing he's not flaming out.
Tough draw in Paris, but if he can put 1-2 more quality matches together against some great opponents, you've got to think his confidence will be back where it needs to be.

The Paris crowd in this Tommy Paul - Richard Gasquet match is treating it like a Davis Cup match between the States and France.
Edit: Gasquet delivers a Parisian bagel to Tommy.
Edit 2: Tommy Paul responds in set 2 winning it 6-2

Tommy Paul's coaches providing encouragement - "He's starting to feel it, make him feel old"
Edit: Narrator from Spongebob Squarepants: "Gasquet was feeling old"

Welp, Tommy Paul has served for the match at 5-2 and 5-4. We play on at 5-5 in set 3.

Oh man, Gasquet was up 6-3 in the tie-break, Paul gets it to 6-5 on his serve, then Gasquet has a match point on his serve at 6-5 and proceeds to double-fault. Paul then wins the next two points to take the match winning it 8-6 in the 3rd set tie-break.

Charlie gets Roman Safiullin later today which is a intriguing match, the Russian has played very well in 2023 especially on indoor hard courts. Felix will be up following the conclusion of the Korda - Hurkacz match.
Edit: Hubi advances over Korda who looked like he might have injured his wrist. Hopefully Sebi is okay.

Felix takes the opening set over the right Struff in a tie-break (7-3 was the tie-breaker score, Felix just missed the tie-break bagel as he was up 6-0).

Felix takes it over Struffy 7-6 6-4 - A pretty solid performance from Felix overall as the stats show below - Struff played very well in my opinion and Felix was full value for the win today.
