Bianca’s not fit for this. Will she be cursed by injuries like Milos?
It is a little frustrating that some of Canada’s best tennis players are injury prone but as a tennis fan going back to the 80’s, I have lived most of my life where Canada wasn’t even a blip on the tennis radar. For the longest time Glenn Michibata was the only Canadian man to crack the top 50 (48) and Nestor was the only national player winning anything and that was doubles. These are the best of times for tennis Canada so I try not to get too entitled and down on these players.

I was worried she was injured again - they said she was favoring her arm, and then she got nauseous. Bianca said after the match though that she is feeling really good.
Man, that was a huge missed opportunity for Leylah. Gets her opponent in a 0-30 hole and then three straight gifted points later, a rain delay. Had she managed to break, or even have break point, to have to stew on that during a break in play would be a big psychological advantage.

She was the 80's Bouchard. Had one glorious stretch and was a non-factor for the rest of her career. She was in a lot of commercials though.
I don't think that's fair, she made the QF's of the Aussie Open in '83 and '87, the QF's of the French in '84 and '86, Round 4 of Wimbledon in both '83 and '86, and the semi-finals of the US Open in '84 and round 4 in '85. She made six singles finals in her career (won 2) and three doubles finals (won 2).
To be fair, Kanepi absolutely handed her that game, played horribly.

Carling Bassett and Hurricane Helen Kelesi had fine careers as well.
We will never know how good Kelesi could have been as she unknowingly played years with a tumor above her nose. Great comeback story for anyone not familiar.

Wow, Kanepi crumbled late in set 2, but Leylah just kept getting the ball back in play combined with some great shot-making. 7-5 7-5 and a date with Naomi Osaka on Friday.

Well, that turned around in a hurry. Again Kanepi screwed up in the final service game with a double fault but that was also a really strong game from Leylah in terms of getting everything in play and making Kanepi hit good shots to win.
WATCH OUT OSAKA
