Listening to my favorite music podcast this week, an old episode (very old) he covered a theme of the most repetitive songs ever made. The list was generated by math...an algorithm that analyzed patterns in pop music. #1 on the list? You guessed it.
The mummies are the drums. The athletes with the prosthetic heads are the baseline. The skeletons are the synth embellishments. The synchronized swimmers are the synth melody keyboard. And the robots are the vocals.
God bless Michel Gondry and his wonderfully esoteric brain.

How was this written in the 70's? It sounds like it belongs in a Renaissance Faire.
Secondly, this is a song written about spending time with his son. As a father myself, I can't help but weep every time I hear this, especially as my son grows older and becomes more independent.
It's weird how the joyful stuff in your life can also be the most heartbreaking stuff.

Not sure how many Trance fans there are here. I'm a big time Trance fan, and while I enjoy what EDM and house music has evolved to, I lament what it used to be.
Tiesto went dark last week, and went back to his roots with a new trance track last Friday, along with debuting it along with a full trance set at DreamState Socal last weekend.
Amazing is all I can say. Brought me right back to my high school days, and I found myself closing my eyes and feeling the music so often through this set. As much as I enjoy the music today, I missed the story telling, flow and buildups of trance.
If you enjoy trance, you need to invest 1.5 hrs into this. Watching it is a pleasure too.
Very much looking forward to his album, and hoping he inspires the new DJs to come back to trance, just as he trailblazed the past 2 decades
Local blues legend Tim Williams died today. He’s been in hospital awhile, they thought he’d turned a good corner the other day, but he was unable to hang on. Saw him live a few times with my late father. RIP good sir.
