On the Oilers post game show tonight Propaganda Minister Baghdad Bob Stauffer made a point twice to say that Connor Hellebyuck has the best save percentage of any goalie in the Canadian Division "by a wide margin." He and Jacob Markstrom are both sporting an identical 0.935.
I can't be the only one that sees the sweaty and drowsy Mayor Quimby whenever Bob Stauffer is shown, can I?

They'll see the world burn before they'll admit to themselves and the world that it's a deeply flawed team going nowhere soon that needs a complete overhaul.

He also predicted that the Jets would play Broussoit against the Senators today to save the better goalie (Hellebyuck) for the better team.
No mention that ex-Oiler Broussoit might be motivated to once again shove another loss down the Oilers throat.
I can’t believe that man is employed. If he wasn’t buddies with Katz I doubt he would have a job. I’ve heard him say, on air, to Chris Johnston, “win or lose we still booze”.
Baghdad Bob may be the biggest shill in sports media but it did get him his new TV gig. You can clearly see that Katz has a lot of influence over the media as he got Spector out of Oilers broadcasts for being critical of the organization and had him replaced by his personal propaganda minister. Katz is the very definition of small man syndrome.
Exactly why do Oiler fans think the schedule is unfair to them?
(other than the fact that they don't get to play the Oilers 9 times)
It is because their starting place in any discussion of their team is always the conclusion.
Their conclusion is that the Oilers are an elite-level perennial Cup contending team.
When the results don't meet the conclusion, then:
- the referrees are biased
- the coach sucks
- teams play the Oilers harder than any other team
- the schedule is limiting their entitled success
- the Oilers have been screwed by the draft (yes, this is an actual complaint I have seen from Oilers fans on the other board)
...
on and on.

I know all that.
I was wondering if any specific 'evidence' has been presented as to why they are butt-hurt about the schedule.
What the heck happened to Kyle Turris? I thought maybe a change of scenery may work out for him but he looks like he’s done as an effective NHL player.

Nashville wasn’t going to buy him out with 4 years left if they weren’t sure he was done especially considering they didn’t really use the cap space for anything big.
He is absolutely done. All the praise of dodging the bullet that was Markstrom and instead bringing in Barrie and Turris is not looking great for the Oil right now

I had my doubts that he would bounce back, he's been bad for a while, and 31 year olds rarely bounce back.
Looks good on the Oilers and fans for thinking he was going to be anything more then the guy that sweeps the press box and asks the teenagers where all the good parties are at.

Despite being almost equal and shots, the first three and a half minutes of this highlight package is all Oilers. Desperate, desperate video editing to find any tiny little faint nugget of good (there are none) without even a thought to mention anything the Leafs, the home team, did through the first 15 shots of the game.

I think teams are actually pretty good at seeing when a guy is just plain done. There are always times when a team moves on and I think to myself "really? I thought that guy would still come around", but they almost never do. There is the odd case of a guy passed on by one team and he goes somewhere else and is resurgent, but it feels like an exception to me.
Drafting on the other hand, teams are not good at ranking that talent. I'd say that goes for most teams, but in keeping with the spirit of this thread, the Oilers have to be near the bottom of the barrel in that department. Anyone can take McDavid, but other than the most obvious choices they've been a wasteland.
