^perhaps. I can't wait to see what Russia has on Trump followed by trumps tax returns being made public. I don't think he is as well off as he would have us believe.

Does a pardon exempt him from questioning and perhaps a trial if it came to it?

I'm not sure, but I don't think you can preemptively pardon someone. Flynn would need to be convicted of some sort of wrongdoing, and for that to happen, the truth would need to come out in some fashion. Flynn might avoid jail time, but the damage would have been done.

So apparently Trump team were warned about this a few weeks ago. That means that Pence knew about it and lied about it at that interview. What are the possible consequences here?

Wasn't Nixon preemptively pardoned?

From a quick google.

"Ford did pardon President Nixon, but what most people do not realize the articles of impeachment against President Nixon still stand in limbo. The constitution of the USA clearly states a president can not pardon an impeachment. ... The only body that can pardon an impeachment is the US Senate."

https://www.quora.com/Can-a-presiden...emptive-pardon

So yes and no. A president can preemptively pardon someone, but not for crimes that haven't yet been committed. And Nixon remained technically impeached.

For Pence? Nothing. He lied to CNN. So maybe a Purple Heart. But probably nothing.

They mentioned something about diplomatic something or other that would make him exempt from testifying against Trump. No idea if it would work if impeachment or something.

If I remember correctly Petraeus got the Clinton email treatment where "classified" information was transmitted but was basically a copy of his schedule. I don't think he would be a terrible choice policy wise.

It's amazingly ironic though if it happens.

Edit: I'm remembering Obama saying he didn't send classified info which the Attorny general didn't agree with and they worked out a plee.

Remember when I was laughed at (by one of the "I'm not pro Trump just anti Hillary" posters) for suggesting that Russia interfered?

Glad Flynn is gone. After his embarrassing performance at the GOP convention he just didn't seem like a guy that should hold any kind of government job.

What is the shortest tenure for someone in the White House?

haha I had totally forgotten about him at the RNC. He was the guy with a ton of awkward silences and egging the crowd's "lock her up" and "USA" chants if I recall properly.

It was a lot worse than "a copy of his schedule"

Quote:
As part of the agreement, Pet#raeus admitted that he improperly removed and retained highly sensitive information in eight personal notebooks that he gave to Broadwell. The Justice Department said the information, if disclosed, could have caused “exceptionally grave damage.” Officials said the notebooks contained code words for secret intelligence programs, the identities of covert officers, and information about war strategy and deliberative discussions with the National Security Council.

Yep, yelled 'lock her up' and when the crowd started chanting it he yelled 'you're damn right!!'

He seemed like a guy that was a little too.........aggressive.
