Oh man what a job by Swanson. Might have saved the game for the Jays there.

Great job by Swanson there. The lead is slipping away. Jays just can't seem to get that knockout punch.

Wait was that 1-2-3 bottom of the 8th!? This doesn't seem like the Blue Jays

Romano has not looked sharp lately. Got the save last night with some good D and now the tying run is coming to the plate.

Outside of the poor opening series, and the set against the Twins, the Blue Jays haven't lost a series to a team below .500 yet this season, really they haven't played many bad teams either.
Cardinals: 1-2 .419
Royals: 3-1 .274
Angels: 2-1 .547
Tigers: 2-1 .431
Rays: 2-1 .671
Astros: 1-2 .541
Yankees: 2-1 .548
White Sox: 3-0 .427
Seattle: 2-1 .493
Red Sox: 0-4 .527
Pirates: 3-0 .472
Phillies: 0-2 .521
Braves: 3-0 .644
Yankees: 1-3 .548
Orioles: 0-3 .625
Rays: 1-3 .671
Twins: 2-1 .486
Brewers: 2-1 .521
Mets: 3-0 .466
Astros: 3-1 .541
Twins: 1-2 .486
Orioles: 1-2 .625
Rangers: 1-2 .616
Marlins: 1-1 .568
Their division and schedule is so stupid. How do you play 76 games so far...and only play 28 against teams below .500.
Really it's the 4 game series sweep against the Red Sox and the 3 games against the Orioles that you look back on as miss opportunities at this point.

Awesome! Big W there, and a big series W after some very suspect efforts in Texas.

8 out of 24 series against teams at or below .500. That's ridiculous.

Huge job by Swanson. Needed that. Loved to see the Chappy bomb for insurance.

Oakland coming to town might be just what the doctor ordered. If the Jays can sweep that series, which should be the expectation, then it'll soften the blow of that little tough stretch.

Think it's 9/24...and 2 of those series are the Twins that actually lead their division.
20-8 in games against teams below .500.

Nice win.
Vlad's OPS down to .786
Duuuude, WTF?
If Vlad, Kirk and Manoah were contributing like they did last year the Jays would easily have 4-5 more wins.
I don't want to fat shame, but they are pro athletes and you have to wonder if the (waaaaay too many) extra pounds have anything to do with the struggles.

LOL @ the 36-38 Twins holding down a playoff spot right now with teams like the Jays and Astros out.

With the day off tomorrow, and another Monday, do you skip the bullpen day and go Bassitt, Berrios and Kikuchi this weekend vs A’s?
That allows Gausman to go Tuesday to open the SF series, all starters on regular rest. And then he’s ready to close the Bo Sox series on Sunday.
2.5 weeks til all star break and what should have been an easier stretch, though of course now SF is the hottest team in baseball and Red Sox are on a run again.

The Vlad thing is bizarre, he is hitting the ball, just into the ground. It tells me a couple things, pitchers are exploiting some weakness in Vlads approach and that he is unable to make an adjustment. I would believe the wrist and knee thing affecting his swing except for the fact that staff have been fine putting guys on the IL because of small injuries, Bo’s thumb, Belt hammy etc. it’s just automatic right now that he will hit a ground ball. At least the strike outs are down?

A 4-5 record on a road trip against 3 teams who are collectively 43 games above 500 is actually respectable. AL is a bit funny...the A's and Royals are disasters, the ChiSox and Tigers are bad and everyone else is mediocre or better. There's 4 teams absorbing most of the losses.
