Oilers don't want to trade Driasital, probably, for his talents, but if he's basically told them he's gone, and he seems like he'd be extra miserable if he was forced to stay, every team would do that going into UFA year.
Especially a team that would need cap space. Even if the Oilers traded him for beans, they would get immediate cap space to sign someone else they may help keep McDavid. They really is the undeniable end goal here, however in vain it may be. They'd change their logo and uniform colors to keep McDavid, so jettisoning a player (I don't think those guys are close friends off the ice anyways, just bonded via circumstance and that different team rules apply to each of them) in hopes of a better chance keeping McDavid, is a no brainier.
Again, when the Oilers gets booted, the immediate focus of the Oilers press on assigning blame will be a tell tale sign of Driasital's likelihood to be back. It may not be blaming him for the loss, but mentions of how he got hurt, is getting older, the team hasn't won anything with him, his bad attitude, etc etc will paint the picture to fans that he has to go.

I live in Victoria, these Canucks fans are getting really intolerable. I wear Flames caps all the time, the crap I hear from these mouth breathers is nonstop. Random people love to tell me that the Flames suck. Canuck fans can eat ####.
I need to see soul crushing sadness hit these goofs. Round 3 would work but a total collapse in the next 2 games and then losing in OT game 7 would also be just fine to me.
F both of these teams forever.

That was after a win. And his first start was after Skinner lost. This time he lost, and if they still go with him, it's more meaningful.

They'll sign Pickard to a new contract as well. LOL.

Has anyone else noticed that every time the camera pans to Knob he looks genuinely scared or just staring into the abyss? I don't know I feel like he's in over his head. Bit of a space cadet.

Just a reminder that the Oilers have Jack Campbell under contract for $5 million per year for another 3 years after this season.
They also traded their 1st round pick for Henrique and Carrick, neither of whom are playing for them in this series.
They also will use up another $1.9 million in cap space next season to pay James Neal.
Darnell Nurse makes more money than Cale Makar.
Elimination game in 2024 they are deciding between Skinner and Pickard to be their starter in net.
Just amazing work by Oilers management over the years.

You're right Jr, he certainly doesn't have the presence behind the bench like Tocchet does, his interviews are very uninspiring(the complete opposite of Tocchets). Like you said , I think he's in over his head.

I hope I'm wrong, but I think the refs give Edmonton at least 5 PPs in game 6 and Vancouver can't hold them off again like they did last night.
Edmonton get's at least 2 PP goals and it's unlikely we aren't going to game 7.
Best bet for Vancouver is to steal it late again so there's no time for the refs to re-manipulate the game.

Coaching edge for the Canucks in the series has been massive.
Feels like Oilers grease out a win at home and then toss a coin in game 7. If Canucks can keep it 5v5 they look like the better side.

And don't forget, they'll have Connor Brown's 3.225M bonus applied to next years cap as well!
