I played Sunday and Monday at Heatherglen and it was fun! finished hole 18 in a blizzard, but clear otherwise.

For coming in rusty, I see big improvements from last year, where I shoot ~100-105.

99 on Sunday, 94 on Monday from the blues with no mullies or any help. I had a string of holes on the back that went par, par, birdie (426yard par 4), par, bogie. Then hole 18 was the snowstorm and we rushed it and I got a triple bogie. Felt great though!

I just picked up a junior membership for my son (he's 12) at The Track (formerly bouldercreek). I was trying to get him on as a sponsored junior at Willow Park but unfortunately we didn't make the cut this year.

So plan B is The Track, we live in Cranston so the drive out isn't bad the price is unreal, only $219 for the summer. I added unlimited driving range for another $99 so all in we ~ $350. He's golf crazy and this pass will be a life saver during covid to keep him busy.

I thought of getting one as well but don't think I'd use it enough, I'll just go with him and utilize his 20% discount for guests.

We have a tee time booked for Sunday, hopefully the weather cooperates and we're able to get out.

Lol at Boulder Creek changing their name as if we'll all forgot it's not a good course. Also lol at whoever put TPC Fox Hollow as a tag.

The opening of Rivers Edge has been pushed back to April 1

Greetings Patrons,

Due to continued snowfall, River's Edge Golf Club will NOT be opening for the season on Saturday, March 27. Our plan is to now open both the course and driving range on Thursday, April 1 (no not a fools day joke). If you have booked anytime before April 1st, no need to phone and cancel, we can handle it for you. We appreciate everyone's patience. Stay tuned for further updates including some new and exciting changes and upgrades to the the course this year!! Online bookings are still available through our website www.okotoks.golf , however, we have had a major issue transpire with our phone system which will be fixed by Tuesday, March 30 so please bear with us while we resolve this problem.

Thank you,

River's Edge Team.

Played my first round this afternoon at Redwoods in Langley.
Still lots of mud but really liked the course overall.

Felt pretty good about my long game but short game & wedges in particular were rough. Lots of chunky muddy shots.
Pretty happy overall for my first game of the season.

Sometime over the winter I had posted about a CP golf tournament, and I still want to do this. Here’s my thought on how this would work, but let’s figure this out and then start a new thread for it and give it a shot?

- first and foremost the point is fun and meeting some other CPers. This isn’t competitive and it’s not worth cheating to win!

-players use their handicaps if they have one or a close enough approximation to make sure we have competitive matches

- it’s a match play tournament where I’ll randomize all the entrants and it’ll be a double-knockout tournament. You’ll have an assigned opponent, have to set up a game and play within a set period to keep the tournament rolling.

-for the venue, you can decide between the two of you, and in the case of disagreement the lower handicap gets to choose. Don’t get too hung up on this as again, it’s a fun tournament.

Depending on how many people we get, maybe we play a more legitimate tournament at the end of the season with the people who played through the year and the final matches are the last group that day? Something like that.

Anyway...I still think that this would be fun and now that golf season is upon us thought I’d bring it up again.

I would probably be down for that. Or if we just wanted a single tournament round I'm cool with that too.

I like the tournament idea too, though double knock out seems too ambitious as it might be tough to have people line up times to play together.

Please report back once you've had them out for a spin.
Clubs arrived Monday! I went to the Golffuture YYC Smart range yesterday, the Sub 70’s feel great and fly a lot like my old x’s.

Positives:
- pw-7i I have added about 5 yards
- 6-4i I have added 10 yds
- going to a three hybrid I have added 25 yds to my 3i. I think this is going to be my go to club on a lot of par 4’s. Beautiful thing.
- they are a sexy looking club
- the muscle back blade seems more forgiving then my x’s. That could just be a sign of the times

Negatives:
- woods are nice, but the heads are a little closed for me visually
- I should have stayed with my grip set up, the mid size are not quite chunky enough for my liking, but I will get used to it. I may swap all my grips.

Unsure:
- the spin rate was higher on the sub 70’s, I hit a very high ball so interested to see how that effects the carry distance to greens.

Would love to post a photo from my phone of the two side by side, but I am unsure how to.

Edit - also intrigued on the tourney idea!
