Yeah, when something is shown to the audience in the first scene of the pilot I think you're allowed to talk about it.
That being said.
Yellowjackets is basically Lost for fans of The Silence of the Lambs or Hannibal or Jennifer's Body. There are two stories running in parallel, the teen soccer team trying to survive post plane crash in the wilderness, and then those same teens as adults back in society 25ish years later. Both timelines are interwoven to enhance the other, much like the Flashforward Season of Lost.
Edit: I also personally think that knowing a fact like that doesn't make the show good or bad. It's all in how it's executed. But I'd never casually drop a 'Vader is Anakin Skywalker" level of reveal.

Disagree. If it's in a thread for recommendations, nothing of the plot that occurs outside of promotional material should be mentioned. If you want to talk about what's in the show create a specific thread for the show.
This kind of casual talk spoiled a significant moment in White Lotus season 2 recently, so pulling back on those kinds of conversations would be appreciated.
The very least that could be done is use the forum function spoiler tags.

Okay, but this this isn't the level of the White Lotus thing. That's like a Vader level reveal.

Respectfully, for people that aren't familiar with a series it is irrelevant what level of spoilerage (?) is deemed from people who have watched.
Someone recently started Six Feet Under:
Spoiler!
If I told people who hadn't watched the pilot what happens in the opening scene of that show it drastically changes the expectation of a show about a family run funeral home.
As an example.

I'd argue that the execution is what matters most over the shock reveal. But agree to disagree.

I watched five minutes of yellow jackets out of context: two teens banged in a frozen hut while the others barbecued a dead girl on a hilariously small funeral pyre. I laughed so hard I choked, what the hell is the show about?
You saw the only 5 minutes of the show you need to see

I liked the first season, but was pretty skeptical when the showrunners said they wanted 5 seasons. This season has been tough to watch. I usually have it on when I am doing something else now
Hey, if we could stop casually spoiling series in these threads that would be pretty cool.
I have found if you truly want your entertainment spoiler free you should avoid all trailers and forums. Enter a thread (even a spoiler free thread), prepare to find spoilers. Of all shows to complain about you picked the one where the show spells it out for you in the opening scene.

I don't mind the second season but I feel it's starting to get stretched thin.

My Douglas Adams inspired solution is just not watch the pilot episode of a new series. Always start on episode 2 or later for that authentic, “where am I?!” feeling. Circle back to the pilot once the series wraps up.

Really loved the new season of Schmigadoon (aka Schmicago). While the first season was heavy into the golden-age musicals of the 50s and 60s, this season was all about the 1970s era musicals, which made it a much weirder mashup and more musically interesting. Highlight of the season for me was this number that combines plotlines and characters from Little Orphan Annie and Sweeney Todd, with a solution to their mutual dilemmas that Jonathan Swift would approve of.
Other season highlights were the addition of Tituss Burgess as a perfectly cast narrator with a particularly great Jesus Christ Superstar piece, and Jane Krakowski in an over-the-top courtroom lawyer scene featuring plenty of trapeze work. My parents listened to a lot of musicals when I was young so I'm catching some but definitely not all of the references they're dropping, but my wife, who generally dislikes live theatre and musicals found this season much more accessible than the first.

I liked the story a little more in S1 but really dug the musical numbers and references this reason because I'm way more of a Fosse/Sondeim/Schwartz/Jesus Christ Superstar et al slut
