Man that was a chippy, pensive first half. I could feel how tense the players were through the screen. Spain looks threatening any time they find space to run at the D and Netherlands look scary on dead balls almost every time.

Maybe not dirty but really really chippy. I think they all were deserved yellow's and there could have been a straight red too.

Tough game for Webb this one.

It wasn't a free kick, Spain had put the ball out of play for an injury and Holland were just returning the ball.

But this ball is absolutely stupid so it nearly bounced over Casillas' head.
The Dutch felt bad about that and gave the ball back again.

The Dutch playing this like it's hockey.
Forecheck hard, don't give the opponent any time and "Finish Your Checks!"

Spain kicked the ball out to deal with an injured player. The usual move after that happens is to give the ball back. Netherlands kicked it back but the weird bounce and bad keeping conspired to make a mess of it and Casillas gave the hairy eyeballs like it was some huge indiscretion so Netherlands gave it back again.

Spain kicked the ball out due to an injury. The Dutch almost scored when giving it back to the Spanish but it went for a corner. they then gave it back. Funny moment.

edit: Yeah, what the others said!

I think Webb's done ok. Too many of the niggly little fouls being called. Robben has dived twice.

But credit to him he really didn't want to ruin the final by giving a red card in the first half. Let the teams cool off in the dressing room and re-assess things. Maybe he'll even visit each dressing room.

If it continues in the 2nd half there will be a red card very early.

I'm too North American to understand the draw of this sport. I find watching golf more entertaining.

That being said, I hope the orange team wins.

Was David Villa actually touched on that play? Didn't look like it...

Those players look like they're in agony when they're flopping around on the grass like that.

ARRGH, this blows. Got a new 60" Plasma but Shaw refuses to install the HD until Wednesday.

Does this game stream in HD from anywhere online?

I can't believe that Dutch player decided to flop when he had an odd man rush going in the attacking zone just because he got touched a bit. F off with that junk, seriously. Get rid of all the acting and I'd like this sport so much more.

CBC's stream just dropped below the lowest youtube quality, I'm guessing their server is getting hammered. Checking out the other language streams too. Cantonese is fun.

I can't believe Robben missed that clear breakaway and then another half one. Shocking amount of fouls being called, Webb is making himself the star.

Dull dull game. Players too worried about making a mistake. Chippy beyond belief.

Ten minutes in my wife predicted this one was going to penalties, given the lack of, well, pretty much anything resembling a good game of football. It sure looks to be going that way.

Can't disagree with you. It's been a horrible tournament.
International football just isn't what it used to be.

I'd live to invite you to follow us during the league season which is much better

----

And if I hear another person say how exciting and beautiful Spain play I will strangle them. They've killed this tournament.

This will sound bad but with all the riduculous diving that Robben has done for no reason, he should have gone down when Pujol pulled him on that half one. Gotta pick your spots when you're conning the ref. Webb would have sent off Pujol for sure, he's been whistle happy.

I don't like Webb, never have. However, most of this has not been his fault. The players are to blame for the chippiness and cynical play.

I don't believe it's been a horrible tournament. There has been some great drama, some controversy, and some good football too. Sure it could have been much better but it's not been bad at all.

This final on the other hand............has been horrible.
