Not to mention that 3 of the Kings game would be against Calgary. The only way for the Oilers to be caught by the Kings, is for the Flames to sputter out themselves and somehow still be ahead of the Oilers.
If the Oilers go a mediocre 8-8-0 down the stretch, the Kings would have to go 13-4-0 to pass them.
It's unfortunate, but the Oilers 10yr drought is over.
Who says the Oil will go 8-8? They could easily slide to 6-10 or worse.
This will be the most games McDavid has ever played in a season. He's already played more games than his most in 2012-13. Talbot is on pace to play 72 games. 72 games.
They have 3 more games against LA. 7 of their 16 games remaining are against teams in playoff position. Thy also have 3 against Vancouver who have been very kind to us in the OOT lately.
Oh yes, I read the chart wrong. San Jose has a magic number of 9. 12.5 is the Oiler's magic number over LA, so a little more likely for LA to catch them than I suggested. Still pretty unlikely.

Garth Brooks will forever be remembered for his nine sold-out concerts in Edmonton after a banner in his honour was raised to the rafters at Rogers Place on Friday night
“We raised banners for Wayne Gretzky, Mark Messier, Stanley Cup. But tonight, we want to raise a banner for Garth,” said Bob Nicholson, CEO of the Oilers Entertainment Group.

Can someone explain the crossovers joke for someone who missed it, who may or may not be me?
In last nights game Remenda blew his load twice consecutively over a clip of McFlashinthepan's crossovers on a goal vs Detroit. And yes, they called him McFlash in the process.

SportsClubStats gives the Oilers a 99.3% chance at making the playoffs.

There was a sequence in the game last night where McDavid broke wide and skated hard around the NHL defender with the puck for a shot on goal. After the next stoppage in play, they replayed his rush from several angles and with Drew Remenda gushing about McDavid's crossovers. Then, Drew Remenda starts counting the crossovers and explodes with astonishment that he took nine strides! (I think he said "nine"; not certain, but "explodes" is no exaggeration). Remenda and Kevin Quinn continued about how incredible McDavid's skating is—like they had never seen someone skate before this moment. They ended with Kevin Quinn calling McDavid "Flash McDavid!"
It was so utterly ridiculous.

Not sure how that compares to anywhere else, but 44% is pretty steep. I have family that are STH up there, and they were ALREADY complaining about gouging in the new arena for regular season games.
I would seriously die from laughter if they imploded and missed the playoffs.
