I'm not thrilled with my AMD card, but it's good enough to continue my Nvidia boycott for the time being

Oof my system has been randomly black screening while the video card fan goes to 100%.. even had the card RMA'd but it still happens.. and I've got a 5900X so I've been thinking it might be time to update. I don't do much heavy stuff on my PC anymore so was thinking of a 9800X3D but that's super tempting.

The loveliness of current nvidia drivers is what it is now. I ONLY for the first time this year got the 4090 working right again .I rebuilt my system, I wiped windows , tried every driver from 4090 release date and finally got it to work again without black screens . I couldn't get it not to black screen Until on day I was like what is my wife's pc using for an nvidia driver? Used that one and boom . Been solid for a week now. Which is funny because I swear I tried that driver like a dozen times previously and would black screen instantly .

####ing hell man. 4090 no black screens for 2 weeks since July 2nd nothing but head aches. Same system no changes just black screened then more black screens 9n restart. Tempted to just say #### it and sell it or but an9070xt till drivers are stable agian then sell it. Wtf . It's not a hardware issue or cable issue . Done all the test for them . I know it's a driver issue because certain driver will just straight up 80s tv static the image when loaded. Super frustrating. It's the first time in my pc gaming lifetime I've never bought the best of the best and just wanted to wait a generation. Don't know if I should get a 5080 or 5090 just so drivers work. At this point I don't even care about max 4k refresh rates . I just want it to function. Probably will get a 9070xt and wait it out the sell it when I can pop my 4090 tuf in reliably. ####!!!!!!!!!

That sucks. My 4070 super has been hassle free. One of the reasons I went nvidia was because of driver issues with AMD cards dating back 10 / 15 years ago. I hear the drivers aren't as stable for nvidia anymore.

Funny thing is now I've gone in the opposite direction, I haven't had a black screen on my 4090 for many weeks now. Also same system no changes.
I fully expect it to be black screened when I get home now that I've posted this.

I have been very pleased with my 4070 TiS. No issues.
Plays 15 year old games just fine lmao

LG C4 42" OLED for $999 at amazon and Costco. Few other options that I would use for the PC (gaming) if your GPU can drive it.

Amazon had a m.2 8tb ssd at an ATL the start of their sale. Looks to be sold out for now but could be back maybe?

So I'm redoing my office layout and I think I'm going to go away from having a monitor that can game for my PC and a TV for my consoles to having a separate gaming monitor that I'd use for both my PC and my consoles.. for my PC it would be off most of the time (i.e. I wouldn't use it as a 2nd monitor). That way I can be happy with getting OLED and not worry about burn in or subpixel layout / text quality stuff.
42" seems about the right size for the space, I can push it far enough away that with a mouse and keyboard I won't be too close.
Any good recommendations? I see an LG C3 42" for $900 on Facebook, are any of those LG OLEDs going to be good? Not looking for an ultrawide.

Huge fan of the 42" LG OLED's at a monitor and gaming. It'll feel huge initially but you'll get used to it pretty fast.
I probably wouldn't get used if new is comparable or sorta close in price.

The C4 42 was also recently on sale. Wouldn't be surprised to see it on sale again now to November Black Friday.

Probably the biggest drawback of the smaller TV OLEDs are their worse economies of scale, a new 55" LG B/C aren't that much more expensive.

Yeah for sure, I'll have to see how much space I have when I get everything laid out but I think 55" would just be too big.
