After hearing about Soccernomics multiple times in the thread definitely going to pick it up. My usual soccer reading is largely magazines, either 4-4-2 or When Saturday Comes in the rare instance I find it in a chapters. I love how soccer/football writing in both those magazines can be both intelligent and infused with humour - wpuld love it if there was a hockey magazine half as good.

Never really read any soccer books that I look back on and would recommend hugely, I did enjoy The Miracle of Castel di Sangro at the time.

"Bloody Confused" is funny. Talks about English football from an American newbie perspective.

After the Colts won the Superbowl, I have had bad luck in the finals for my favorite teams (Oilers lose in '06, Colts lose this past years SB)......lets turn that around tomorrow............

HUP HOLLAND HUP!!!!!!!

2-1 Netherlands in a really close game (Sneijder, Robben.....and Villa for Spain).

I hope you're right! I think Robben might have to be a key if Holland are going to win via any other method than a dead ball. It's going to be their day of days if they outpass Spain so a key moment of explosive speed or skillful dribbling from him would be priceless. He's got it in him for sure.

I also love the way Kuyt has been working his butt off this WC and I'm looking forward to seeing him battle with the Spanish D. Not playing super skilled just digging and digging, running down every ball and putting it all on the line.

I think that we can all safely say that the Frank Lampard goal was that freakish thing!
I'd suggest that was Robert Green's miscue in game 1. There always is a scapegoat (Stuart Pierce) as mentioned and there is always drama.
But in this case, if England win that game against the US they finish first in the group and play Ghana instead of zee Germans.

My German brothers are out by the filthy hands of the Spanish.

Other than Torres' dive in that one game, the Spanish have been playing pretty upstanding soccer ... your comment confuses me.

I really dislike both teams. Probably going to cheer for Spain because I hate Robben so much.

4 yellows in 22 minutes. It would be a disaster if someone gets sent off.

^And everyone of them has been deserved Yellow's too.

Van Bommel, in particular, will really have to watch his step.

I think the only one that should have been a yellow was Van Bommel's, maybe Puyol's

other ones could have been let go, it hasn't been a dirty game

Spain dominated the first 10 minutes, Holland has found a bit of traction since then. Not a really good scoring chance for either team, though both keepers have had to make a decent save.

Go Spain!!!!

De Jong should be gone. This game needs to have some flow to it, it's the world cup final ffs. Can someone explain what happened when the Dutch got that free kick and gave it to Spain but it missed? And why they gave their corner to casillas?
