Carra the third Alderman to claim they have consulted their constituents via polls, who overwhelmingly supported the Tunnel.
Carra to support it.

Yep, its going to be 8-7 for, unless someone crosses to make it 9-6, but that's unlikely.

I wish all the people who voted in Mar could be forced to sit and watch his BS. Ashamed he's my councilor and double ashamed I voted for him the 1st time.
And MacLeod should just turn in her badge now if she votes against it. Because it doesn't say in stone tablets "we're building an LRT line while we build the tunnel" she is going to vote no? She realizes she'll never get her precious LRT to the airport if the tunnel doesn't get built now.
What a maroon. Yes, that was intentional.

A bit strange that the "left-wingers" are against it.

I'd love someone to poll the residents in the 7 wards in the against column. I bet there are at least some who didn't "speak for their people".

I just emailed Demong, and I suggest all of you who wanted it (and whose alderpersons voted for it) email them. They are going to catch a lot of shat for this because its expensive and they should hear the support from their residents since those who are opposed to it are going to come out in droves. We should let them know they have the support of many in their community especially since other unpopular things are going to come down the pike (secondary-suites) and they'll need our support then as well.

Should I email DCU and tell her she should have voted yes? (I wish I didn't live in Ward 13)

Is there a better way to email them than to use the auto-routing form at calgary.ca? Like a direct email address?

I just went to Demong's website and it had his ward 14 email address. He said he'll get back to me within a day.
I was at a dinner where Nenshi was the guest of honour the other day. He said people need to get involved with civic politics and make your representatives hear you. I truly believe he can do great things for the city in the long term but they are going to be unpopular. This city "rejected" Dr. No, but there are still some old guard aldermen on the council who need to know that this city needs to plan for the future.
