I wonder if that is because the voters didn't watch Lions games or if the rookie class was that bad because watching the Lions this year and Delmas was not very good.

I believe he asked if he could skip the pro bowl for family reasons so he could head to the Palms in Vegas.

It just proves one thing, the pro bowl in a complete waste. I dont know why any player would want to participate.

I don't follow much college football, but I just read a bit about Myron Rolle. Holy crap, there is a guy who seems to have everything going for him.
For those who don't know:
Coming out of high school ESPN had him ranked the #1 prospect. He also played in his HS band, sang in a play, was the sports editor for the school newspaper and had a 4.0 GPA.
Interested in becoming a doctor AND playing in the NFL, he graduated his pre-med courses at FSU in 2.5 years. Got another degree so he could continue to play football. Then was awarded a Rhodes Scholarship to Oxford, so took a year off football and is studying for his Masters in Medical Anthropology.
And this week he is playing in the Senior Bowl.
That is quite the resume.

I think the only perk to playing was getting to spend a week in Hawaii. Now that's even gone. I think they should take a page from the CFL and name players to the Pro Bowl squad and just leave it at that. Why do you actually have to play the game? You can't play football at half-speed and still keep it entertaining like you can with the NHL and NBA All-Star Games. Its just not that type of game.
At the very least, I think they should scrap the game and just hold a Skills Competition. You could have a QB Strongest Arm drill, as well as a Most Accurate drill with moving bullseyes or something, and Most Accurate kicker too, maybe a Coffin Corner punting drill...Fastest Player between all the CB's, WR's and RB's...maybe an obstacle course drill with RB's and WR's...I'd much rather watch that than the actual game. And I bet you'd get a better turnout from the players if that's all it was too. No-one wants to work their asses off and risk injury in a meaningless game after a long, exhausting season. They probably just wanna hang out with other fellow all-stars and have fun.
...or do they do all that stuff already during Pro Bowl week. I literally have no idea.

Yeah they do that stuff already. For some reason it isn't televised until the summer if at all.
They have a QB competition. Balls with chalk on the end are thrown at moving bulls eyes down field. Things like that.
They also used to have a greatest defensive player competition. Timed agility drills around tackling dummies. Inclined bench press competition.

Reading some of these Senior Bowl reports, I wouldn't mind at all if Reid took a guard like Mike Iupati or John Jerry. Get rid of the Andrews brothers and roll with one of these guys and Nick Cole or Herremans at guard.
I'm also really starting to like Myron Rolle. This is looking like a good draft year for defensive backs. The Eagles also worked out Boise State CB Kyle Wilson today.

Thanks god for that. I think the Vikings need to look at DB in the draft AND free agency. Especially with Griffin tearing his ACL on ths first play of overtime during the NFC Championship.
Sounds like he will miss the start of the season, which isn't good news to the secondary of this team.
Off to look at a potential list of CB's.

So apparently Tim Tebow is sick, which is according to his agent, is the reason he sucks at QB right now.
Someone, I think he just sucks at QB

He's been getting progressively better, which is a good sign. He's been making a lot of really nice throws and his exchange from the centre has improved drastically from the first day. I'm actually somone who thinks he's going to be a solid NFL quarterback if he gets a couple years to sit and learn the position. His only major problem at this point is his release, which were also criticisms of Aaron Rodgers, Brett Favre, Tony Romo, Philip Rivers, and Donovan McNabb.
Taylor Mays has looked bad so far. He's definitley going to fall out of the first round barring an insane combine and pro day.

I see them trying to deal for McNabb if he retires. On a related note, here's the teams expected to put in offers for McNabb:
http://espn.go.com/blog/nfceast/post...bb-sweepstakes
Quote:
1. Minnesota Vikings: I think this is a no-brainer for Brad Childress if Brett Favre retires. And by trading for McNabb, you'd basically be blocking Favre from changing his mind and trying to return to Minneapolis. John Clayton said on ESPNEWS on Tuesday that the Vikings will make a play for McNabb if Favre walks away. He thinks that the Vikes might be willing to trade the No. 62 overall pick for McNabb. Something tells me, though, the Eagles will be asking for a first-rounder. By the way, McNabb's old quarterbacks coach at Syracuse is now in the same position with the Vikings.
2. Arizona Cardinals: If Kurt Warner retires, which he's expected to do, the Cardinals would be in the mix. Matt Leinart hasn't done anything to convince coaches or fans that he's ready to take over the team. You'd be safer going with McNabb.
3. Cleveland Browns: The new general manager is Tom Heckert, who spent years with McNabb in Philly. I also know that Heckert's a huge supporter of Kevin Kolb. And the Browns wouldn't have to give up quite as much for an unproven quarterback such as Kolb.
|
I'd be happy with both Favre and Warner retiring as it would likely start a bidding war for McNabb.

The NFL named its executive of the year and Colts President Bill Polian won the award for an NFL record 6th time:

Congrats to Bill. He truly is the mastermind behind the Colts getting the players that they do. He found Powers and Lacey on defense this year and they stepped up huge with the injuries to Sanders, Jackson and Hagler.

Myron Rolle went to The Hun School, in Princeton, NJ. Bout 10 minutes from my house. The kid is unbelievable. He is a rhodes scholar and an extremely gifted athlete. Rare combo.

They televise the Qb competition before the draft - I watch it every year, and I remember distinctly watching Joe Flacco and being floored by his speed and his ridiculous arm.

If they can get a good return for McNabb I say take it. They need help on the defensive side of the ball, and can get it with a good trade.
For example, they better get more then they did for AJ Feely....

Mel Kiper jr and Don Banks are both predicting the Niners take OT Trent Williams and S Earl Thomas in the first round. Peter King thinks the Niners will grab Tebow (just what we would need, another Urban Meyer system QB).
