39/53 for 378 yards and a couple of TDs, hope he's that average a lot this year. Not bad for a guy who hasn't played a real game in a year.

This has never been a team for the faint of heart. Always doing things the hard way. It's week one, lots of work to do. Some stupid penalties (Thomas' should have been the final nail in the coffin for them). Lots of sloppy play.

Had it not been for the late collapse by the Bills and there defense he wouldn't have passed for a touchdown and only led them to one touchdown. I'm not going full Patriot hater here I just thought he looked average for the most part of the game.

2 late TD drives, that's why he's the best in the business.

I love how the announcers are trying to talk up Russel in this game.

He has been in the league for 3 years now and still they need to cut off half the field, only let him throw screens and basically have admitted they have no chance at throwing the ball successfully and they are trying to spin it as a good thing.

Both sets of ESPN announcers have been terrible in trying to create stories that aren't there.

I have nothing but respect for the guy I just thought he looked average and a lot of that had to do with simple timing. Running game on the other hand is a little more shady

I don't know why, but I think defenses end up getting gassed a lot quicker than offenses.
Same, I felt alot more tired after D Line/Linebacker, Free Safety vs O Line/Tight end.

I love how every offseason the Chargers get talked up and then the season starts

This game has reminded me how much Raider fans scare me..they get this crazy for a losing team. What happens if the Raiders have a winning season?

I think it should be Norv Turner for getting fired at half time.

How this guy still has a job is unbelievable.

The fact the Raiders scored at all should be enough for him to get fired, the fact they may have the lead at half time should cement it.

Wow that's very strict. That was a touchdown.

Chargers defense just getting torched. Raiders are something like 8 of 9 converting 3rd downs. It seems like there's a Raider's receiver open in every play. Chargers are lucky Russell is missing alot of open targets.

Nice return by Sproules. His returns are the only thing saving the Chargers from epic embarassment.

Well, him and the referee.

and

why are the announcers on a national network telecast ignorant of the rule, yet are giving analysis of a play?

and disagreeing with the referee's review, after admitting they are ignorant of the rule?

Raiders are playing great aside from Sproles kick return coverage. LT is fine they just don't wanna give him the ball

First, he had possession the whole way through and kept his hand under the ball and the ball was in control.

Second, even if it wasn't totally controlled, I don't see how the ref can say that was indisputable. In the preseason, the NFL stated that it wanted to eliminate these ticky-tack calls. It needs to be so obvious that no one could disagree.

Anyways, a good first half by the Raiders. Other than a couple big returns by Sproules and a couple turnovers, they've looked great on both sides of the ball (including Seymour).
