Didn't get to see this one. Sounds like Cecil belted some Indians with a few inside pitches
Quote:
"If I hit a few guys that's not going to change the plan," said Cecil. "I made a couple guys mad today but that's part of the game.
"It's definitely a good thing to establish the inside part of the plate and you've got to keep them uncomfortable in there. If they're comfortable, they're going to tear you apart."

Yep catch them while the bats are still hot. Cause if they cool off it could get ugly.

true, but you've got to think some pitching help is on the way in the very near future. Romero and Litsch are close, so is Janssen i think.
If we can at least keep near the top of the division/wild card chase, i would think Marcum or McGowan begin to become possibilities as well.
I think the Jays could have contended last season with even half of the batting success we have this season, because the pitching was so great last year.
I keep telling myself to not get excited about this team but i'm finding it harder by the day.

The problem with the Jays playing so well now, and hopefully a month from now, will be that they may start pressing hard for Marcum or McGowan to come back early. I'd prefer myself, if both those guys hold out at all costs and wait for next year. Baseball isn't kind to guys rushing back...especially pitchers. McGowan is quite possibly the next Halladay IMO. I hope JP doesn't rush either back.

Jays chase Ortega after 1 and 1/3 innings.

With the score only 4-0. Seems like a quick hook.

7-0 now. Rodriguez was probably the wrong choice.

I think that's poor managing.
Scioscia should have just left Ortega in there.....way too early in the game to start chewing up your bullpen.
Once the Jays got 4 runs the game was likely decided anyways, with Doc on the mound *knock on wood*. And it's not like the Angels have great relief pitching.

Silly move unless he thought the kid's confidence couldn't handle the pounding he was going to take. Marco Scutaro is awesome.

Maybe Scioscia doesn't like the kid or thought he saw signs of an injury.
Either way I wouldn't be surprised to see Ortega's name listed on MLB's transaction tomorrow. To the DL or AAA

Part of me thinks this offense may actually be for real, part of me thinks it's going to fall apart sooner or later.
Either way.........man, a lot of fun to watch these guys at the plate right now. Awesome depth. And I agree with ST about Scutaro.......right now he's the straw that stirs the drink. Quiet, consistent, solid player. One of the better moves over the past few years.

I'm just hoping that they get through the next 14 games at .500 or better because they are all good teams. After that they play some more mediocre teams, so that's good.

SI's website is reporting ManRam is suspended 50 games for positive drug test. There's no link, but just check out SI.com.

There's a link saying he reportedly tested positive on ESPN as well.
That really sucks.
