Hmmm, can't say I agree a whole lot with that list. My points below.
Top 10 Reasons why GTA 4 Sucks
( http://www.infoaddict.com/post/title...-iv/index.html)
1. Money Has No Value - agreed, that is a low point
2. Muliplayer - I'm going to assume he means multiplayer not online. Sure it's lacking, but doesn't bother me.
3. Ponderous Story - I can't say having a huge story is really that much of a bad thing
4. No Upwards Mobility - Not sure I get this one
5. A Step Back From Previous Versions - a little vague. Might be in some areas, but certainly not in most (in my opinion)
6. Wonky Cover System - as opposed to the non-existent cover system of past games? Gears of War it is not but this is a huge upgrade, and seems to serve it's purpose quie well.
7. Dopey Mini-Games - Playing them isn't technically essential to the storyline, so I'm not sure how they add anything but depth.
8. Relationships Are Idiotic - With chicks I agree. With people who actually provide you with services I think it's been done really well.
9. Clothing Interface - I actually like how the clothing is managed aside from the peculiar load times of changing items.
10. Phantom Traffic - I suppose this is annoying ... can't say I've really noticed it though.

I love the game. However, I have been severly neglecting the single player version so that I can play the team deathmatches. Still having some Mic issues but have found that when switching game lobbies it's best to exit into sinlge player, turn the headset off and then on, and then re-entering multi-player.

Yeah, I like the friend system, except they always seems to call at the wrong times to hang out. They're disappointed when you can't hang out with them. Correct me if I'm wrong though, but rather than saying no to them, if you say yes, and then call them back to cancel, it doesn't affect your relationship with them (at least I don't get the little thumbs down that you do when you say no to their request).
Trying to be friendly with Packie to unlock his special perk right now

Is anybody more than 50% completed? I just finished my 43rd mission last night, apparently there is 94 full missions total. So..I'm getting close.

I think I agree with that list of 10 criticisms, but that doesn't really take away from the fact that it's a really fun game to play!

This.
You can find 10 things wrong with ANYTHING out there. It's 110% impossible to please every person all the time. Give me a break for anyone who's to harsh on GTA 4, sure you can find things you'd want to improve, but most people don't have a clue how they'd go about implementing it. Not to mention those negative nellies always forget to mention the things in the game they would have never thought of.

I agree with point #1. I'm only 30% complete the game, but I have over $250,000 and still live in a beat up apartment. The story is always about doing missions because Niko needs the money. But for what really...
Still, keeping me well occupied
|
If you had $250,000 in New York, you would have a crappy little apartment!!

no worries lchoy, I know you weren't ripping on anything. I liked seeing the list. The office I work in is currently in the biggest work slump I've ever seen and I am just grasping at anything to comment on. For this reason, I end up in message boards discussing GTA all day.
If GTA withdrawal could be a sickness I'd be on permanent leave by this point.

i'm about 50.48% now. I like do the random side missions and just generally causing havok, so it'll take a while to finish, and by the time i'm done it's either back to COD4 or start Gears 2

You're right. Got it last night. It's very nice. All paid for by Roman's gambling debts
Also, for those that don't know, when you get the safehouse on the 2nd island, you're very close to the Grotti (audi) dealership. It's a 2 storey building with nice cars that is yours for the taking (provided you lose the cops). It's similar to "Wang's motors in GTA:SA." It's across the street from the clothing store next to your safehouse.

FINISHED IT THIS MORNING. Don't worry folks, I hate spoilers as much as you, so I won't give any.
Officially took me 17 days. I obviously don't have it 100%, but the story is out of the way. Usually I stop after the story, but I'll definitely be getting all the stunt jumps and perhaps trying for the pigeons.
Now that I'm done I'll give my final review, short and sweet:
The scope is incredible, the city really feels authentic and the attention to detail is staggering. Story was phenomenal (for a video game). In keeping with realism the missions didn't have as much variation to them as previous games. Whether this is a bad thing or not is up to the individual gamer. Excellent game but the fact that it's missing several of the features from the previous games keeps it from being perfect in my eyes.
Russic's final review score: 9.6
