Yeah, using good old small ball to win a game where you get good pitching. The St.Louis Cardinals used to kill teams by doing that in the 80's when Coleman or McGee would walk, steal a base, than they'd get a ground ball and sac fly to get them around. I noticed in the first that after Rios stole third Pettite went into the full wind up. So with a left handed pitcher it does present the oppurtunity. Good on the Jays for recognizing it and taking advantage.

I'm pretty sure Glaus has plantar fasciitis so he'll be hurt all season until he gets off-season surgery.
The young kids have really been pitching well of late, Marcum has been an absolute rock and his strikeout rate is really impressive so far. I hope McGowan can string together another couple good outings in a row, I want the kid to gain some confidence in the majors.
League pitched his first game of the year in the minors today as well and he struck out three in two innings (he apparently hit 94 on the radar gun) so he might be back soon. If so, might Janssen join the rotation where he belongs with League taking over as the set-up man?
Halladay
Burnett
McGowan
Marcum
Janssen
That's a damn young rotation but I'd rather have the young kids pitching .500 ball and getting better than guys like Ohka.

Was #2 on Sportscenter to Delgado's monster walk-off homerun. I just happened to tune in for the 12th inning of that game. Benetiz balks Reyes from 1st to 2nd, then home from 3rd, then gives up that moonshot to Delgado. Many unhappy Giants fans here in SF, as they're also pissed about giving up Accardo.

Depends if it was just the HR or the entire sequence that included two balks to get in the tieing run, followed by the walkoff. It was pretty amusing.

Still home runs and walkoff home runs occur nearly every night, or at least once a week in baseball. Stealing home plate is like a triple play or perfect game.....happens very infrequently.

I don't know why it wasn't the play of the night but while watching the A's last night the only thing that was mentioned was Giambi homered but the Yanks lost again. I think that the Yanks terrible season has become more of a story.

LOL. A Rod, making more fans out there. Hollers something as he's running by the Jay's SS and he gives up on the ball. Whitt and Gibbons looked ready to jump him themselves.

I'm disappointed the Jays bench didn't clear there.
That's bush from A-Rod, but what do you expect from a perennial loser?

He's starting to get a pretty good resume of bush league plays: confronting Veritak, swiping at the ball in the ALCS v. Boston, throwing the elbow a couple weeksn ago v. Boston, and then this.
The guy will go down as one of the top 3-5 of all time by the time his careers over, it's just too bad he does this crap.

A-rod is lucky the series is over now but me thinks the Jays have filed this one under for the next time he's up at the dish.
Totally bush. Dissapointing to see how this guy has changed from the kid that I cheered for at Foothills.

saw him hit a grand slam for Tacoma back in the summer of 95, the score was 15-12 or something crazy like that.
Agreed. Sad to see someone with talent turn into such a tool. He still can't field to save his life.

I was really hoping Witt was going to charge out there and give A-Rod a left uppercut........he looked mad enough to do it.
Total bush. I feel bad for the rookie pitcher in his first ever game that looked to get a nice pop-up to end the inning.
Pretty sad a so-called superstar of the game has to resort to stuff like that.

So far as I know, by the time A-Rod was drafted, the M's AAA team was in Tacoma, but I might be out in left field ... EDIT: Yep, I was ... nevermind ...

INTERFERENCE
(a) Offensive interference is an act by the team at bat which interferes with, obstructs, impedes, hinders or confuses any fielder attempting to make a play. If the umpire declares the batter, batter- runner, or a runner out for interference, all other runners shall return to the last base that was in the judgment of the umpire, legally touched at the time of the interference, unless otherwise provided by these rules.
So, not only was it cheap, it was illegal as well.
Good work, A-Rod.
