I hope management is wise enough to know that this team is in desperate need of a rebuild. This game shouldn’t be used as a measuring stick for that realization, but rather reinforce what the majority of us already know. There’s no shortcuts or retooling that can get this core group of players to the next level. Flames have nice complimentary talent on the right team, but as a collection of pieces that make up a core they are simply not good enough.

I won't cry if McDavid is sent flying into the post again.

Give him his right of way, then sweep the leg.

If the refs won't ref by the book then the Flames shouldn't feel beholden to play by it.

This game should show that we’re actually the team who’s only a couple points out of last, not the team who’s a couple points out of a playoff spot.

Playing an AHL goalie and we don’t have the horses to put any pressure on him. You can see the difference between having elite talent and not having it in this game.
