Could have signed him AND Santander. Jays needed two bats, not one.
O'Neil is a pure rightie...IIRC he absolutely kills Left Handed pitching...but is below average most days vs. right handed pitching.

He's had some injuries so the turf could be a bit tough on him, but I thought he was a guy the Jays might make a play for because the term and dollars wouldn't be crippling and he could have an out of nowhere 40 homer 100 RBI season if things broke right for him.

i would have gotten him just for that. Jays can't hit left-handed pitching.

If you mixed him in the lineup inside a group of Giminez/varsho/wagner/roden he'd get a lot of AB vs lefty relievers.

I think trying to sign guys who want to be here (Canadians, etc) is an underrated strategy. If you can find guys you don't have to overpay that helps a lot.

How do you know they didn't try?

I have a 3 month trial and I'm not even bothering after yesterday's performance. If Scherzer wasn't starting tomorrow my desire to watch would be low too.

Santander fouling out on a 3-0 count was ridiculous. Dude. C'mon.

Jays 0-7 RISP already. They have had some bad luck on some hard hit balls right to people. Frustrating that they don't have at least 4 on the board by now.

And that'll probably do it for this game.

Well this is more like it. It wasn't pretty but that's how you manufacture a bunch of runs. Love to see it.

Haven't watched whole game but saw one where Vladdy had 3-0 and 4th pitch was a ball but ump called strike(he double next pitch so all good) then now in 9th inning Mullins has 3-0 and Sandlin throws what look to be a strike but is called ball 4

For all the "why doesn't Vladdy speak english" losers, he just did the AppleTV postgame interview in english.

Still weird seeing Scherzer in a Jays uniform. Not as weird as seeing David Price in one though.

Well, Scherzer gives up a bomb to the first battet he faces in a Jays uniform lol. Then he gives up a 2nd homer later in the inning. Hopefully he settles in now.

Jays come right back and immediately score two of their own though, so it's a new game again.
