Would be wild for the flams to draft the Ruck twins. They could recreate this line at the prospect tournament.

Canucks media is already pushing for the B.C. born Rucks.
Conroy might have to trade down AND trade up and grab them in the early teens.

Could the Flames snag the Ruck twins with their own and the Rangers 2nds? Or will they need to trade back into the 1st and pick them in that round? I guess it depends on what happens in the WHL playoffs?

I think we will probably need at least Vegas 1st on a ruck at this point. Then maybe no one takes the other one and we use the earliest 2nd on the other, or we use a combo of 2nds/another prospect/roster player to grab the adjacent 1st.

Good thing is that if the Canucks really want them and they’re rising enough to be mid-first round picks, we currently have the advantage over them in terms of both the position of our additional first rounder plus all of our additional second rounders.
If our Vancouver really wants them, they’re in a tougher position to be able to do it than we are as things stand now. I haven’t looked at every team’s draft picks in round 1 and 2 but I imagine we’re one of the better positioned teams to be able to draft both of them.

As it stands right now, not discounting for OTT:
VAN: 1, 27, 33, 43, 95
CGY: 2, 19, 34, 36, 48, 51, 65, 66, 96
The Flames would get first crack, with the #19 pick, and then have much more trade capital with which to be able to make the 2nd pick.
#34 + #36 probably gets you a pick in the 20-23 range.
If the Flames want the Rucks, #19 + #23 gets it done, IMO

as much as i love this idea of the Rucks, i'd rather risk it with the 34 and 36 picks.

I'm assuming they will want to play together (down the road) if they are drafted apart.
So if you get one, you've got pretty good odds at getting the other one at some point in their careers.

Never has a draft eligible player that lead the CHL in scoring gone in the second round. Both players will go in round 1

Anything is possible but I would be pretty surprised if Markus goes in the 1st round.

Going to be really interesting to see what happens with this, I'm very selfish but would be really cool to see them get really aggressive and try and end up with 4 picks in the first round this year.
Say you got your top 5, wherever that lands, then Vegas comes in high teens or early 20s, BPA again.
If they're confident the Rucks end up in that mid to late 20s range and those are their guys, given the high seconds this year and multiple firsts the next two years they'd be in a good position to move up into the 25,26 range by dealing 34 and a later pick and one of the 1sts the next two years to get up there.
Would be pretty electric seeing Friday night of the draft end with:
McKenna
Hurlbert
Ruck
Ruck

Ramzi Abid in 1998
Corey Locke in 2003 (though it's true he didn't go in the 2nd Round)
Conor Garland in 2015 (also didn't go in the 2nd Round)

Probably an obvious thought here, but the Rucks are so good because they have been playing together for so long. Who knows what you'd wind up with if you split them up. They have to go to the same team. I don't think two teams would draft only one knowing they can't get the other. I wouldn't be surprised if Conroy has been annoying another GM's about trading picks to get them, and he has enough picls to make it happen.

Other GMs will also be aware of Conroy's eagerness and may well extract a premium. How much are they worth?

Just to be clear, Conroy has never given the slightest indication of an interest in these guys, right? This is just CP fantasizing (no judgment).

I think you're correct that there's never been any official indication of interest in them from Connie or our scouting dept. But with Basha now playing on their line and with them producing the way they are, you'd figure that they're certainly on our radar.
I think it'd also be unusual at this stage of the game to voice interest in a certain prospect, as usually teams try to keep their intentions hidden as much as possible.
