Note I am not an expert, it could be a canoe.
It could be a non cancerous tumour of some sort. Typical Calgary idiots kayaking underground. Probably likes bike lanes as kayakers tend to do.

Another couple wraps of haywire ought to hold it.

I believe these lines are an inner plastic liner or coating, a steel cylinder followed by high tension steel cable in concrete. The steel cylinder is for internal pressure the concrete is for external loading

https://www.ewingfabricators.com/pro...-pressure-pipe

So the yellow is the internal liner.

Wild ass guess is that the concrete failed externally leading to the collapse of the pipe. It looks like from the damage to the liner that it failed outside in.

Edit: looking closer the yellow looks to be the steel cyclinder. It would be painted for corrosion prevention against the concrete.

So, if we run out of water, does that mean Shepard power station won’t get its cooling water from Bonnybrook? That could get shiddy!

I was just going to say...do we have some sort of 'Bat Signal' for David Wilcox?

He could sort this out overnight!

And even if he didn’t he’d work 8 shifts a week if he had to.

To satisfy that woman!

Although as an expert in Forests and not pipes it kind of looks like they damaged it when they laid it and then just patched it up and hoped for the best? Or is that a more recent patch to just 'stem the tide' as it were?

Because it has vegetation growing out of it which kind of indicates that patch has been there a while.
