I'm really surprised how much money Jacobs and Barkley got considering it's not a premium position and doesn't correlate to Super Bowl success. On the Raiders forums we were terrified the Raiders may offer him $10 million a season and the Packers give him $14.8 million next season which is kind of shocking. I like Jacobs but the reality is that Zamir White at $1.1 million was averaging over 100 yards per game over the Raiders last four games so it made absolutely no sense to try and match that money.
Barkley is quite possibly the most overrated player in the NFL so another head scratcher he could get $26 million guaranteed as he's not even been as prolific as Jacobs over his career with less yards in more games played and far less TD's. Silly season I guess.

RB draft class is really poor. Certainly some UFA overpayments here, but that probably was a big factor.

The cap went up, and these are all 2-3 year deals. Most will probably get restructured at some point, or they get cut after 2 years.

It's still poor value whether it be a one or multiple year deal.

Pretty sure only Barkley even has guaranteed money after this year so they are all on one year deals pretty much. We all know running backs aren't worth much, but none of these deals are particularly egregious. Eagles are mostly a surprise because they've made two Super Bowls in the last six years with a committee approach. I imagine they are banking on Barkley being their version of McCaffrey.

Barkley has played with even worse QBs, offensive lines, and supporting skill players over his career than the Raiders have fielded. His underlying metrics are very good, even if his traditional stats aren't great. If he can stay healthy and the offensive line stays healthy, I think he'll have a pretty big year.
In other news, the Eagles brought back CJ Gardner-Johnson, which I'm pretty stoked about.

He's a full on wack job, conspiracy nut. The less we hear about Rodgers after his retirement the better. One more year then he's done. I can't imagine even Fox would do business with him.

A rare player for player trade: Falcons trade QB Desmond Ridder to Arizona for former 2nd round pick, WR Rondale Moore.

Moore is pretty good. I like him as a depth guy. He never really had a chance to do a lot in Arizona and I'm not sure that Atlanta will be any better for him.

Look Geno obviously isn't the long term answer, but neither is Howell, so why do this?

Nowhere else for Fields to go. Only Denver remains and I believe they've made it pretty clear they arent interested

I think plenty of teams are interested in him, just not in the contract situation with the 5th year option. You'll probably just have to release him.

Yeah the Bears overplayed it and now are stuck. If they don’t want to keep him it appears they have, as the colloquialism goes, ####ed the dog.
Maybe someone will throw you a day 3 pick now or you can keep him and let him lame duck the year so Caleb doesn’t get thrown to the wolves? I dunno. Shoulda traded him a month ago if they were going to.
Of course there’s also this

If they really want to get anything of value for him right now they need to work out a short term extension that lowers his cap hit so the acquiring team has time to evaluate him on cheap money. Give him two more years for something like $10 million total, eat some of the cap hit, and maybe then you can get a third rounder.
But really the time to trade him was always last year. Would have given the acquiring team a year to decide before committing to the fifth year option. And the Bears would suck even more last year, so they could be picking #1 and #2 right now and getting Caleb and Harrison, or trading #2 for a boatload of picks.

He's so old he'll likely tear the other achilles in the first few games this upcoming year. It would be a very Jets thing to do.

Seahawks a bit slow out of the FA chutes for my liking for a new stsff. Sure resigned Williams but not a fan of letting Wagner go, NFL leader in tackles.
