Hrudey's suit got the ball button rolling a couple of seasons ago. It wanted to get out of town and quickly!

It’s not all bad; I have it on good authority Pat Steinberg is putting the finishing touches on a 6-year deal.

Don’t kid yourself - most NHLers would still love to play in San Jose. I doubt it’s on a single no-trade list. Anaheim probably isn’t either.

A fat lot of good it’s done the Ducks.

Thank god for Pronger and Niedermayer, or they’d have completely wasted the careers of Getzlaf and Perry.

The Flames deserve a lot better. Especially the class acts who are running the show now.
Yeah. Now I wish that Sutter was still the coach.

That was my point in one of these threads...Edwards parachuted in Darryl who treated players badly and nobody did squat about it (if allegations are true). Kind of tends to destroy any sense of loyalty one might have.

Calgary is a great place to live as a normal person. Wouldn’t be on the top of my list if I was a young millionaire though.

No this is likely wrong. I mean yes Edwards is awful and stunts any GM from doing what they want to do. But in this case I think it's legitimately just a domino effect of stars leaving and those left behind seeing the writing on the wall.

I feel like although the Flames had a great regular season with Gaudreau, Lindholm and Tkachuk had an amazing year, ultimately Sutter as one human being ripped this franchise apart with the way he came into this team (and maybe that's the only way he knows how).

And it could ultimately end up being for the better. But as much as we mocked the unicorn talk from the Panthers GM, he may have been on to something.

Byram is an incredible player, but he’s already had so many concussion problems…

Probably a gamble worth taking though, if he’s on the table.

I think if they avs want to unload a defensemen, it'll probably be Girard, he has 4 more years making $5M and playing on their 3rd pair. Assuming Josh Manson is healthy to start the year and with Johnson going UFA, he'll still be on the bottom pair next season. 25 years old, haven't watched him enough to know if he's worth $5M.

Not sure Girard is better than Hanifin.
I guess he doesn't need to be at 5m as Hanifin will soon be getting much more.

Severe enough that he’s only played 92 games in three years.

Probably the single biggest concussion risk in the game right now.
