Nope, you’re married now. Things don’t get big on your birthday anymore.

Feeling very good about this series. Sutter has this team better prepared mentally for the playoffs than they have been since they last got in with Hartley. No playoffs series is easy, but the Flames finally look to have the habits and reliability to bring their game to the playoffs this year.

I think for the Flames to win this series, a few things need to happen:
1. Must contain Heiskanen and Klingberg, these 2 murdered the Flames back in 2020 with the 8 and 6 points they put up respectively. I wouldn’t play them so passively this time around, get on them, pressure and give them no time or space.
2. Top line has to produce 5 on 5. The biggest reason why this era of the Flames have faltered in almost every series could probably be attributed to the lack of production from their top line at 5 on 5. Generally speaking, they’re a big reason why the Flames use to make the playoffs, so when they’re not themselves, the team is an easy out.
I am more confident in the top line this time around though based on their production post all star game, which was a really big problem in years past.
3. Discipline. Looks like the games are being called like the regular season, so the team will have to adjust unfortunately. So our guys won’t get away with a few things they normally would have in prior years, but that didn’t hurt them this season. However, the Stars are the most disciplined team in the league I believe, so they’re use to not taking penalties. The Flames take a lot in contrast, so they cannot exacerbate the problem by being overzealous as the Stars’ PP can be lethal.
If the Flames can achieve these 3 tasks, then I think the Flames take this series.

One of the Hallmarks of this team and one of Sutter's calling cards is teams that close gaps quickly and a huge emphasis on forechecking.
Thats the key, a relentless wave after wave after wave of forechecking.
He manages the minutes, he manages the personnel. They can do it. And they have the will to do it.

Yeah, it was one of the biggest gripes I had with the Ward, Peters, Gulutzan strategies. Very passive at the point. Like I understand you have to protect the slot chances, but when the opposition have dangerous defensemen that can act as a rover or walk the line as well as the Stars do, you can’t just sit there like a dolt and let them find and create seams. We’ll see how this version of the Flames deal with them this time around.

Dube's facial hair is a force of nature. By the time he's shaved the right side of his face, the left side has a new five o'clock shadow. To look clean-shaven even for a moment, he has to stand between two heavily armed barbers.

The no honking thing is really dumb. Exiting the dome to a sea of honking cars was always part of the fun and festivities.
Where was this for the idiotic protests? Nice priorities.
City pride is a no no, but a##holes get a pass.

Yup. Sutter says he coaches checking, not defence. And it shows. Pressure everywhere.

#1 rule about honking is you must wait until you’ve verified that I’m live on my PVR recording.
