Tough period. The Flames needs to counterpunch. The game is still young.

Yeah I don't know if that was a spear. Benn wasn't looking, and it's more meant to maybe do a bit of a can opener to keep him from getting out to the point. The timing and placement were coincidental and there was no sudden jab.

No surprise that Dallas came out flying with a push back.

The question is: how are the Flames going to respond? Against the Avs, they never did. But I expect we'll see a good push back tonight.

To be fair I actually thought the vast majority of media personnel were fair to Tkachuk last series.

Only Paul Maurice and a couple bozo’s with blogs in Edmonton were outraged.

All Dallas in this one so far. Third line has been good for the flames though. Hope to see better from the top two lines in the next period. Defenceman has also been pretty good for the Flames I guess. Talbot has also been good for the most part, but the rebound on the first goal was a little iffy, maybe.

I think any line is fair game for being broken up on the road when the team overall isn't playing well. It's about catching the opponent off guard.
Mix up anything but that line imo.

The first line has not been on for a goal against in the entire playoffs.

Everyone always complains when the top line plays poor D, and for the first time they are actually playing a more rounded game , people want them all traded

Could they take it to another level ? Absolutely . But maybe we should look at the strifes and defensive effort they have made trying to become a well rounded line so they aren’t a liability when against top lines

Again : we’re 4-1! The whole team has bought into a more structured D game. That’s why it’s a team game and good teams have different lines hot at different times

I'm concerned about Brodie tonight, he's having one of those nights where instead of making the simple play, he tries something that makes everyone cheering for the flames cringe. He made 2 very stupid and complicated plays before the second dallas goal.

@DarrenWHaynes

If Tkachuk is injured, you don’t break up the third (first, in actuality right now) line so the move you’d think would be promoting right-shooting Derek Ryan to RW on that second line and just roll three lines as much as you possibly can.

I thought they did good weathering the storm. You knew the Stars would come out balls to the wall after losing the first game.

Flames have shown they can regroup in between periods and adjust.

Let’s go.

You don't think he was just trying to give him a can opener to slow him up from getting to his spot and placement on the ice? Right off the faceoff like that it's pretty common.

Time to shake up the top six.

Gaudreau-Monahan-Mangiapane
Tkachuk-Backlund-Lindholm

Or really mix things up.

Tkachuk-Monahan-Mangiapane
Jankowski-Ryan-Lindholm
Gaudreau-Backlund-Reider

Gaudreau and Backlund have been the worst, so play them on the 4th line with Reider and see what they can do.

When the tip of your stick hits something you automatically pull it back, you don't jam it furrher. That was for sure an "accidentally on purpose" spear. Unlucky he got it in that exact area.

Behind the play a lot as well as handling the puck like a grenade.

I hope he figures it out quickly. He needs to play at least okay if we're going to win.

There needs to be a clock or app that will let me know when intermission is over or so I can keep an eye on the clock.
