Many of the lower seeded teams are playing desperate hockey right now, either trying to get in, or just trying to hang on to their current spots (like Dallas). And the bottom feeders are playing with zero pressure and are just enjoying playing spoiler (Kings, Ducks, etc...)
Teams like the Flames and Sharks are obviously not matching that energy right now. It's frustrating, because the Flames could make things so much easier on themselves, as a couple of wins this week will likely lock up the division. You're only down by 1 freakin' goal in this game tonight. Time for these guys to ramp up the energy in the 3rd and get this done, FFS. The sooner we can clinch the division/conference, the sooner we can rest some guys before the playoffs.

I was wondering if we were playing the mid 90's devils. so much clutching and grabbing and little picks by the Stars.
But this is what playoff hockey is like.

The team will be fine and the playoffs are not a lost cause.

Yup Flames are built on transition and speed and then pressure in the zone. And risk vs reward in those situations. And have each 4 lines do that. That’s getting clogged up the last two games. Doesn’t help that there are some players with some issues thst don’t allow the, to be confident in that risk, and again, the d not being able to activate is a change for the forwards as well.
But yeah, to play two teams that will be closer in style to desperate R1 playoff teams is not a terrible situation right now.
Anaheim who knows. Sjs won’t play that way, nor will Oilers next weekend.

Likely an injury that would require season ending surgery in that case.

Flames just need a bounce to get a 2 on 1 or 3 on 2 with speed, maybe a Dallas penalty or two.
No question about the Flames effort.

This team and the coaches need to figure out how to handle tight checking, conservative hockey.

That was a great shift by the 1st line to start the 3rd. More of that, please.
