Me too, Lindholm and Gaudreau and Monahan have too much chemistry to split them up for any length of time. I don't mind a bit of experimentation but prefer that first line stay intact.

Francis with the least bad segment of his Sportsnet career
And by that I mean he didn't give any opinions.

This was the most dominant 2 periods I’ve seen this team play this season. The Islanders could use a second puck just to play with one tonight. The shots they’ve had have been mostly cosmetic, not a lot of substance. If the Flames play like this in the playoffs, look out. Conversely, if the Islanders play like this in the playoffs, they’re toast.

I’d rather my goalie focus on stopping the puck from going into his own net by not kicking it in than “make a zillion outlet passes”

JG and SM are really looking only for each other as the first, like in the Ferland days and unlike with Lindholm.

Longest non-shutout streak: 264 games (Calgary Flames, Nov. 12, 1981-Jan. 9, 1985)
The Calgary Flames heard plenty of boos from the fans at the Stampede Corral when they were embarrassed 7-0 by the visiting Blues on Nov. 10, 1981. Little did they know that their team would go more than three full seasons without seeing a "0" at the end of the game.
Two nights after the embarrassing loss to the Blues, Calgary began the longest consecutive-game scoring streak in NHL history by edging the Quebec Nordiques 3-2. Win or lose, the Flames kept scoring until Jan. 11, 1985, when the Nordiques blanked them 4-0 at the Colisee in Quebec.
The Los Angeles Kings came close to matching the Flames' mark, having scored in 261 consecutive games before Calgary preserved its line in the NHL record book with a 5-0 win at L.A. on Oct. 25, 1989. In contrast, no team has gone as much as one full season without being shut out since the 2006-07 Buffalo Sabres scored in all 82 games.

I always find his passes lead to disarray on our team and thus neutral zone turnovers. Hes also had two mishandled already. Would be much better if he never played the puck imo

Nonsense. Smith has made a few great saves in this game.

I haven't seen the Flames dominate two periods so consistently like that in a while. We've had great 5-goal periods this season, but this was another level of consistency.

You realize doing one negates the need to do the other right?

Line matching at home when we get to get our top line away from their checking line is my guess as well as trying to get Tkachuk going.

Sorry. I misread the post. I don’t know the record for lowest shots in a single game.

The long passes are well and good, but the relieving of pressure on the D by Smith successfully moving the puck is the biggest benefit.

Very simplistic analysis. Him with the outlet passes and going out to get the puck into the corner instead of a defensaman, allowing the defense to stay wide, allows very easy exits for the Flames. That prevents a lot of potential zone time for the Isles as dumping and chasing and getting chances off of taking the puck off Flames defenseman in the corner, doesn’t work.
