Why should others need to run around and prove to you why your Flames biased opinion is incorrect? If we are arguing over 1 or 2 games we are in the weeds. Both are minor suspensions and I have no issue WHEN the league aires on the side of heavier hands on reckless plays. The fact they don’t do so consistently enough is frustrating but for the argument of you have to get it right all the time or non of the time just doesn’t hold up. The world would go to #### if things worked tgat way, let alone the NHL.

it's more of a lack of consistency than anything else.

Probably a dumb question but if he appeals, would that allow him to play over the weekend until the appeal is heard?

So if an injury affects whether or not a suspension is given, can someone remind me how many games Johnny missed due to the Staal slash in 2016? /s

I will take that Lomberg suspension any day, I am very happy he did that. Gio suspension- not happy about it, especially given it is NSH and sweatpants nation. But he has some history. Maybe I am a homer but I thought Dumba hit was high. There are so many saying it was not suspendable. Maybe I am wrong. Either way, it was disrespectful and unnecessary with a game out of reach. It is BS to say he was just following through . To throw a huge hit when the game is out of reach? Then turtle like a coward? Be a man Dumba. No discipline for the timing of a hit like that? You know what, maybe it is better the NHL did nothing. That means it’s frontier justice. See you in a few games Dumba... this is what happens when rats are allowed to throw hits and turtle. The flames will take matters into their own hands.

Which makes when they lose even more funny. "Despite your best efforts to slow us down, you have failed. Good day to you"

Seems fair. It was not intentional but was clearly knee on knee and Koivu got hurt.

With all of the other garbage the league has let go against the Flames I am shocked how many posters are ok with the outcome of the incidents of the last two games.

^Yeah, I know, but Gio - for whatever reason - is criminally underrated around the Hockey world. And with it being the PHWA voting for the Norris, and two Ontario-based defensement in Chabot and Riellly leading the D-scoring race it was going to be tight. I can see a few writers deciding they should drop Gio to a 2 or 3 in their ranking as a result of this.

I don't take issue with either suspension. But how the hell does Kunitz get away without a call from DOPS for the elbow on Hamonic? That's an egregious and dirty play. At least Gio was making a hockey play. No intent to injure, just intent to trip.
Lomberg really asked for his suspension. Great to stick up for Backlund and make Dumba pay a price but the beeline while ignoring the play, dropping the gloves and jumping him was just dumb.

You mean leg trip, it was not a knee, incidental leg based contact, never before seen or punished in the NHL. Apparently.

He did what the coach/organization asked of him...how is that dumb?
sure he is suspended for two...big ####ing deal he probably wasn't playing anyway. He will get in more games because of this.

Its out of our collective hands. Why waste energy being upset about it when it was clearly a dirty play regardless of the team you cheer for. It's done, the Flames have to get through some adversity. Its just another rung in the ladder that is a season to make a push for the playoffs.
Every single fanbase thinks officiating and league justice is heavily skewed against their team. this is no different. Yes, Kunitz should definitely have gotten a phone call from the league. It didn't happen and Hamonic has not missed a step despite his face becoming mashed potatoes this season.
Be like Hamonic and power through.

Lomberg? Fair.
Gio? That’s an absolute 100% without a doubt joke. Kunitz elbows our guy in the face and he gets nothing...? Give me a break.

Why do people keep bringing up past non suspensions against other teams? It makes no sense. The league screwed up before so they can never suspend anyone again?

Because it shows the complete lack of consistency, logic, and use of precedent within the department of player safety, that’s why.
