I think it's safe to say that the casual fan has no clue what Sigalet does for the Flames goalies on a daily/yearly basis, and therefore cannot form a reasonably sound opinion on whether he should be fired or not.

It is a very tough market to hire a coach in but only because this franchise keeps repeating the same habits over and over again.
I am not going to judge Peters yet. I like the assistant coach hires. All things considered, I still don't think this moves the needle enough to make a substantial difference on the ice.
If Tre can actually make a splash this summer with a signing and trade to bolster the lineup, it just might be enough to reset the team and make a substantial difference on the ice.

Treliving doesn't know how to use Twitter or set up a burner account? Instead floats his potentials assistant coaching hires to Calgary media to gauge popular opinion?

We don't have a first rounder so that gimmie is off the table. I don't think we make the goalie requirement so I think we will have one PTO goalie.

We don't know how many, if any, preseason games the Flames will have in North America while the bulk of the team is in China. I assume one reason they're going a week earlier than the Canucks and Kings did last year is so the trip is less-disruptive to Training Camp.
If there are any preseason games scheduled while the main team is in China, the league will almost-certainly give them an exemption to the veteran rule, like they did with Vancouver and LA last season.
Look at the roster the Canucks dressed for their preseason game in Calgary last year: https://www.nhl.com/gamecenter/van-v...game_tab=stats
By my count, only Megna and Chaput would have met the requirements for the veteran rule.

It's official, fan 960 says so.
I'm good with this. Now let's get the roster changes rolling.
Ward is on par with McLean Imo so this is the type of experienced coach I was hoping for. Now we can hope it all comes together.

The NHL waived this requirement for the teams that went to China last year. I'd imagine that's the case again this year.

Looks like Geoff Ward will be the Associate Coach in charge of PP and to help with in-game adjustments and Huska is the Assistant Coach in charge of the backend.

I like it. Now we wait to see what player moves Tre makes this summer. More speed, please.

Agreed. But watching these Stanley Cup playoffs and VGK's tremendous success has taught me one thing:
If Deryk Engelland can play fast, then anyone can.

In-game adjustments? That's not something I'm familiar with.

Me, I read the Peters part in his voice. No pauses.
Also at the end of the article it seems to suggest no other coaching changes will be happening. Everyone else stays put.

The type of team Peters envisions is modelled after the two still playing as June beckons.
"What Vegas does in this final, win or lose, will make people step back and think. But the game was getting faster and faster anyway. They're just continuing that.
"We want to play fast. A real up-tempo game. Quick in those 15-to-20-foot foot races.
|
I'm real excited to see how this team performs.
