I think someone needs a Snickers.

I haven't minded Stewart at all. He makes some decent passes and is definitely a great deterrent out there. Like a significantly better Glass

Some team needs another 1OA. 4 in the last 8 years aren't enough. Plus a 7, 3, 4, 10 and 6 since 2007. Of course, of all of those, the Oilers still have 3 players.

Mike Smith played great. Had to be concerning when he was talking to the trainer.
What moral victory? Got two points that actually have playoff importance.

And that's the most structured I've seen the oilers with McDavid in yyc, and Talbot brought his game. Flames top two centers are playing injured and Tkachuk out, with new bodies filling out the bottom six. They definitely weren't going to blow out the oilers. So they did what they needed and shut then down instead. Doesn't really matter how the points come at this point.

Connor got his standard two or three rushes but he wasn't in clean and alone and with 27 shots it wasn't a stolen game by any means. I think they were full credit given the situation. No moral anythings here.

But say, if you're tired of moral victories maybe your team can be darlings and take two points from our competition tonight.

The Oilers are a pathetic joke of a franchise. The Flames haven't selected higher than 4th overall in their entire existence in Calgary. And yet, here we are battling for a playoff position, playing meaningful games in March.

Even if the Oilers were to turn things around and somehow be a half way decent team next year, its not like it would or should be lauded. You've won the draft lottery 4 times in the past decade, including the best player since Sidney Crosby. It should just be expected that the Oilers would be a competitive team... yet somehow, despite every possible advantage, the Oilers have found a way to be an absolute embarrassment.

I’m pretty much assuming the oilers will lose tonight... and it won’t be close. Not just cause it’s the oilers and it’s what they do best... but last nights game was one of their last “meaningful” games of the year... those players will all completely check out for tonight’s game after losing to the flames and because of the added motivation of hurting the flames playoff chances. Could turn into a real bloodbath.

But I won’t even care... I always take joy in watching the oilers lose anyways. The flames will take care of their own business and don’t need the oilers to help them.

What you should be worried about is that after 12 years of rebuilding, and 4 first overalls, your team is still a tire fire.

Brutal post dude,

lol

Moral victories are for losers - the Flames got 2 points and are fighting for a playoff spot, the Oilers have been munching on moral victories since Thanksgiving.

The ridiculous and salty whining from Oiler fans is turning this into the best W of the season!

Only an oilers fan would confuse moral victories with actual victories -- the ones that put 2pts in the standings with a chance of making the playoffs. How's that draft lottery pick looking down there?

At this point I'd play Stewart over Hathaway to send a message to Garnet, who has been mostly invisible for months now. He seems too complacent.

Here's how I'd fix that - double shift Ferland and Frolik on the 3rd line while giving him the gimlet stare each line change. Then throw him out after the period's halfway done. Pretty sure Bowman was a specialist at doing that - getting that one "beast mode" shift out of someone who'd be invisible otherwise if he was trying to play a regular shift, and riding the momentum until it died... rinse and repeat.

Hathaway seems like one of those guys. When he's on, he's gloriously the epitome of what you want in a 4th liner - fast, wrecking ball agitator being paid a million or less.

He's turned into Lazar. Before Lazar regained his confidence, that is. Bobbled pucks, a step or two behind the play, lost board battles, not good positionally in the o-zone.

I think Hathaway needs to go back to lighting up the AHL. He was great, both ways, when he first came up.

Don't be so hard on yourself. You should be proud of the inverse dynasty. It is definitely one for the ages that will never be replicated.

I think the fact you have a 10 year posting history on a team's board you cheer against is more sad than the Oiler's last 10 years. I think you should acknowledge that as well.

There should be a badge of honour of some sort. Maybe a banner.....

It's a better board than the Oilers fan board- more diverse and active. Don't have to justify or acknowledge anything.

Well not quite:

· Puljujarvi (#4, 2016)
· McDavid (#1, 2015)
· Draisaitl (#3, 2014)
· Nurse (#7, 2013)
· Nugent-Hopkins (#1, 2010)

That's five, but it is still really, really bad.

You should probably at least acknowledge that it was stupid to call the Flames' win in Game #71 a "moral victory."
