Pretty much all of Florida will be closing.
Looks like this thing is gonna go right up the gut of the entire state and into Georgia..then North to where I used to live. First one for that area since 04.

Oh my, the looting that will occur...
Hopefully there will be a shoot on sight rule for them (Looters)
I know pretty much zilch about hurricane behavior but if I understand correctly they begin to lose strength over land more or less. Florida is going to get hammered without a doubt but would be the best case be if it came ashore at the southern tip of the State and moved due north right up the centre of it? No warm water to feed it so it could lose strength relatively quickly other than the rain. Florida is not that wide so literally 30-40 miles either way and it stays over the water and comes up the west or east side of the state which could make things even worse. Pretty slim margin but maybe that would be the best case scenario.

The hurricane is the size of France (waaaay wider than Florida). It's not going to slow down fast enough, even if part of it is over land.
Also, I suspect that the hundreds of weather experts might have considered that :P
I know there are, That's why am hoping the gov't leaves some people there to look after things...
Army, reserves, police...something...
I hope not. People are more important than things, hands down. The people left behind to "look after things" are in just as much risk as if the ones who'd been evacuated weren't (Thus, why evac in the first place?)
