Because that's a very real possibility as well.

Smith has played 19 playoff games, and has a 1.88 GAA and a .945 save % in those games.

Elliiot has played 41 playoff games, has a 2.60 GAA and a .908 save %.

Smith's a good goalie playing on a bad team. Now he's on a team that can make the playoffs with average goaltending. He's better than average.

Not crazy about Smith, but I think Treliving did the best with a bad situation. Next season will feel like last year all over again. Despite a proven guy, I still wont be convinced until he actually proves he's still good.

Call me crazy but I like Smith more than MAF.

Name one defenseman Calgary 'didn't give a chance to' over the last six years who left and went on to bigger and better things. I'll wait.

So pretty much just a second for a proven goaltender for the next few years at 4.7 million. Ya I get it losing picks suck but not having a goalie is 10 times worse.
What's even crazier is all the love for Hickey lol. He was probably never going to resign and wasn'the even close to being a blue chip prospect. Well done Brad.

At no point did I write bigger or better things. Reading is key to this. What I wrote is that the last home grown D is Brodie. I feel Witherspoon would have been a good 6 here, but was never given a real chance.
