The biggest thing for me next year is getting out from under the cap overages.
I know it doesn't sound like a big deal but this roster needs ever stinking nickle they can put their paws on to maximize their chances.
If a 500k overage contributes to the Flames not getting the player they want/need in trade or free agency it will sting.
NEED to move wideman.

Im hoping that the Flames are in on a landeskog type trade the deeper we go without any flames related news. I dont mind giving up a 1st and a couple prospects for that. which is what it sounds like the avs want. maybe theyre high on a porier. 1st, poirier, another prosect or player like kevin and some cap dump.

Reminder that there could still be trades announced after 1pm. Teams just have to notify the league they have agreed to a trade at 1pm. Usually the trade calls continue for a couple of hours after the deadline.

If there is a Hamilton type trade, than do it but highly unlikely. I agree with you, just stand pat. The expansion draft might bring us another Hamilton type trade.
