They have a good record in Montreal. I'm clinging to that tonight.

But that's just me.
This post reminded me of the game last year, where Wideman pummeled Kessler for shooting the puck in the empty net after the game was over.

Stajan has been a bright spot this year. Any one who has played with him on the fourth line has done well. Bouma is playing better with Stajan. Yeah, his contract sucks, but so what?

“I think it boils down to three or four basic points that (general manager Brad Treliving) outlined (in his press conference earlier on Tuesday),” Burke told co-hosts Bob McCown and John Shannon. “He wants a physical team. A big, aggressive team. And a truculent team. I hate to use that term because it’ll make everyone laugh but our vision is that we want that kind of team. We like that kind of hockey. Our fans like it and we think it’s essential to winning in the West
Bolded part is true.

During a mid-year performance review, this goes down as "did not meet expectations"......

Stajan is a soft player in a hard players role.

And he does pretty darn good at it, considering. When he came here he was soft as butter. At least now he tries to stick up for himself and his linemates when he can.

If anyone's blaming team toughness on a guy like Stajan being here.... then you aren't watching the same games I am.

@bigern10 Brian McGrattan

Back in the day we would send Komarov back to russia with a broken face eating ketchup sandwiches!

I've been thinking a lot about that hit and about all of the other stuff that JG is taking on the ice.

Maybe the coaches need to teach him stick up.

If someone lines him up like that he needs to put his stick up at throat level so the player has to go through his stick to make the hit.

Maybe at this point he needs to take some penalties. If someone slashes him across the hands he heeds to turn around and give him not a little half effort slash but an absolutely brutal slash.

We can argue that the other teams will just target him so he'll retaliate, but at this point, I'm convinced that we're seeing Johnny break down from all of the abuse. And maybe if Johnny goes out of his way to become a on ice surgeon, his team mates will be more willing to help him out.

I mean we've seen his game drop off, probably because when he takes off his gear he looks like he's been in the vietnam war.

but how willing would Komarov been to throw that hit if he had to go through 3 feet of stick aimed at his face?

Of how willing would a player be to slash him repeatedly if Johnny gave him a spear in the sack?

And how willing would the team be to defend him if he was trying to defend himself?

And maybe just maybe if Johnny high sticked one of these offenders and then laughed on the way to the box as his abuser lay on the ice bleeding the team would get a boast of energy.

With neither the league nor teammates sticking up for players, I definitely advocated that Johnny should be tomahawking guys in the back of the leg for every slash he received on the hands.

I'm just tired of him being on the team. He predates the rebuild. Instead of Bouma & Stajan, get some 800k players in there and spend more on top line scoring.

Back of the leg? He should turn around and tomahawk him across the hands while yelling "How does that feel $#@$%@#$"

The league is now the NBA.

I agree, the game has become a lot faster and more exciting in some aspects. But like you said, it has become emotionless. If a team gets down by 3 or 4 goals early you might as well go home or change the channel. Something that you would have never done 20 years ago. Both teams will just go through the motions for the remainder of the game with very little entertainment value. 20 years ago, if one team got a big lead the game got very entertaining. Emotions ran high and it seemed that teams cared about being embarrassed or sticking up for their team mates. As a result it fired up the fans. Now, I think apathy sets in, and people simply change the channel.

I am just thrilled that I didn't listen to my heart and buy tickets for me and my kids last night to watch this heartless bunch. Saved me about $600...

Its the first time in ages that I actually listened to the head on my shoulders...
