That was an entire inning of 72mph curves

Michael Saunders swings at every single breaking ball he sees even if it's in the dirty and then lays off pitches right over the plate. Frustrating.

This feels like September Jays baseball. Frustrating to watch, zero offense.

I think just in terms of MLB quality at bats, Saunders has to be one of the worst I have seen. He has a bad feel for the strike zone, has no approach and strikes out way too easily. Ya he hits the odd dinger but the guy is brutal. Can't wait for his tenure as a Jay to end, probably my least liked Jay.

Is this even really possible. I can't imagine hitters cutting down their swing would do anything except disrupt their timing. Bunch of slow rollers to 3rd.

The Jays don't regularly play teams that steal bases. The only team that isn't at the bottom of the league for base stealing in the AL East is Boston and they are 13th.

Man, good thing Santana was looking for a different pitch, that was a meat ball over the plate from Happ.

Why does this guy get hit by the ball so much. 31 times. That's like once every 4-5 days.

Oh, it's very possible. Not easy when you're not used to it but if you don't adapt you'll get exposed. Doesn't guarantee good contact, but it gives you a much better chance at making good contact.

Shortening your swing is a season long adjustment. It's a mechanical change involving hip movement shoulder movement. Everything is different.
The jays aren't going to suddenly start hitting singles up the gut by just shortening up.
The offence is cold. It happens. I don't want them making mid series adjustments chasing some fabled way of winning in the playoffs.
Do what you are good at. It's a long series.

It's not just possible, it's part of hitting.
Kind of like a pitcher can't simply throw as hard as possible every pitch

I get that. You shorten up on 2 strike scenarios. But the results are hardly reassuring
Same scenario when you watch pitchers reach back for a little extra. It's usually high. Pitching, in the same way is timing.
