A declining Lucic for seven years is a great deal....for Lucic. That deal for the boneheads up North doesn't frighten me at all. How long has it been since Lucic has been an impact player? If he wasn't going to play with McDavid, I'd expect almost no impact. He'll get points but, for me, the clock is ticking for at what point he becomes a slow boat-anchor.

Almost all these big signings look bad after a few years. Ericsson, Nielsen, Ladd, Lucic. 3-5 years fine. 6-7 years is too much.
Edit: add Okposo and Backes to that list.

Oilers and Canucks will both be better next year after today's signs, but I'm not sure they be that much better, and I'm really glad the Flames aren't being strapped with those terms and costs.
Hopefully if we make any adds they are more reasonable and bank on our young core to improve and deliver better results.
