That makes it sound like they've actually been called in.
This makes it sound like the military has called their own people to be ready to go but that an official request from the province hasn't happened yet.
If the latter, why the **** has the military not been called in yet?!?!?

The Baron is your best source, considering he is in and active.

Baron, does it puzzle you that the actual requirement and request hasn't been made by the Alberta government?

Just heard from a client up there, said he's ok and family is ok as well which is good to hear. His facility is right across the street from a few places that burned down, and I think it made it through.
Also said the support from the province is unbelievable. Albertans really don't F around when it comes to helping each other.

Notley: As things stand right now, there has been "fairly significant destruction." Roughly 1,600 structures at this point. #ymmfire

The MND received the request and DND is working with the government of Alberta to define the requirement.
A C-17 was scheduled to leave Trenton at 1130 EDT today with a MAMS crew. I assume it did, but I cannot confirm.
Mr Goodale, the Minister of Public Safety, is expected to make a statement sometime today.

Notley: 1600 structures in Mcmurray damaged/destroyed by fires. Roughly triple the damage of Slave Lake fire in 2011

Obviously just speculation at this point however how much smoke damage has been done to buildings and does that compromise the structual integrity?

Weren't there just reports that the fire in the city was extinguished? Was that wishful thinking, or are these reports inaccurate?

In widespread disasters such as this one, I often wonder if the insureds, who in any other disaster would be fully-insured, quickly become under-insured.
Given the sudden demand for construction talent, prices for the same will increase beyond "normal," and quite possibly the supply of construction materials will diminish below usual levels with a corresponding rise in their cost. What would normally cost $500K to rebuild now may cost $600K, and I question whether the insurance companies (or the government) will accept the increased cost burden in order to make the policy-holders whole.

I think the fact they had it under control within the city is a damn miracle, but from what I hear they had always expected it to be worse than yesterday.
At that point all they could do was hope for another miracle, such as the wind cooperating.

All fires within the city but that thing is still raging in all the trees surrounding. Another hot windy afternoon is predicted and could blow in again and take out what's left.
