How in the hell could anyone be annoyed at Hartley for this? The only people fans should be annoyed with is monahan, gaudreau and bouma. Hartley is 100% correct to scratch them and be damned to all the entitled fans complaining about the lineup not matching the price of their tickets. Go see the team and cheer for whoever is on the ice. Good call Hartley

Because it shows how serious management is about players being professional.

Monday was the final straw, so you bench them Tuesday. You don't wait and bench them 3 weeks later, you do it now so it has an impact on their attitude.

Would love to see a poll, seeing who supports the players, who supports the coach/team.

Personally, I am disappointed in the players... team has rules, follow the rules.

And it could be worse - they could have been healthy scratched pending a trade

if it's something that has been building, you send the message after the last straw that broke the camel's back. That probably happened yesterday.

Because this is the game after the last straw? That little missing meeting/late for practice thing?

No you bench them Monday so idiots like me who made plans to go to the game and paid for tickets would have had time to make other plans.

I don't get why people are upset for the fans who are going to the game. They get a unique opportunity to observe first hand Nakladal and what happens when guys like Ferland, Granlund and Bennett are given better ice time and more opportunity. Those guys need to take this opportunity to show off their skills and use the extra ice time they will end up getting.

Is this the 2nd or 3rd time this season these guys have been late for practice of game day skate?

Honestly, this is terribly disconcerting if any kind of pattern is emerging. Simply no excuse at all for team core players showing up anything but EARLY for practices and game day skates.

I definitely think the prospects of moving Bouma this offseason have increased if this is the impact the organization is feeling for having one of their top young players rooming with him.

Hartley more or less benched the team for the practice.

This is a smart move by Hartley! Could help us in getting a top 3 draft pick! We NEED one of this year's "Big Three" in the draft!!!

Do people really pay hundreds of dollars for hockey tickets just to watch a couple stars? It's about the crest on the jersey, not the name.

i hope they are made to sit in the normal area reserved for scratched players so they can feel the full of shame of it.

I dont have a lot of tolerance for players that get paid that kind of money and have everything done for them but yet they cant make team timelines...

I have no problem with this. I look at this as tough love. We'll never know all of the details of what led to this but I give Hartley the benefit of the doubt that he saw a problem. Today is a big game with national coverage given its the Leafs. This sends a big message. Hopefully these players are embarrassed about this and see that they disappointed their team mates, fans, and even friends and family, and as a result these young players wont repeat this. I think this is different as its young players versus veterans.

Their teammates are also punished. No matter how small the chance may be, they still could win tonight and build momentum for a late chance to make the playoffs. Now they have to answer to their teammates too.

But, you can be selfish and make this all about you.

Johnnys mom must be pissed. Expect a phone call tonight Johnny.

I'm pretty bummed by this. Was hoping these guys were different, with good character, good role models etc. hoping it's not something crazy, and something they can be accountable for and fix ASAP.

On the bright side, Nakladal gets in a game. He probably wouldn't have played tonight otherwise

For a young guy he seems like a good "in the room" type.

But I'm not hanging a C on anyone until they have 5 years in the league.
