Looks like a football move to me when he's reaching for the end zone.

The NFL is micro-managing the definition of a "catch". If the ball doesn't touch the ground, it should be ruled a catch. Period.

No dispute that was a "football move" per se but when a player is going down after making a catch, control must be maintained through the end of the play...by the letter of the existing rule that was not a catch. Its a bad rule but it is what it is.

I think making a football move means he has completed the catch, then the ground can't cause the fumble. It was a bang-bang play, so tough to tell.
Regardless, we can all agree there is no NFL hidden agenda to get the Cowboys in the show now, otherwise that'd been ruled a catch.

Bad rule. He clearly catches it and dove for a TD. But the letter of the law does say no catch.
No sympathy from me though as the lions were jobbed last week.

If that is in fact the correct call, then that rule needs to be changed. That's horrible.
Now I hope GB beats the Seahawks!

The Calvin Johnson rule. Going to the ground to complete the catch.

Manning looks good, not throwing ducks like he was the last few weeks of the season.

Rule 8, Section 1, Article 3, Item 1 reads:
Quote:
"If a player goes to the ground in the act of catching a pass (with or without contact by an opponent), he must maintain control of the ball throughout the process of contacting the ground, whether in the field of play or the end zone. If he loses control of the ball, and the ball touches the ground before he regains control, the pass is incomplete. If he regains control prior to the ball touching the ground, the pass is complete."
|
Again by letter of the law stuff...its an incomplete catch as there is no denying the ball hit the ground and bounced which by definition is loss of control.
However, its a terrible rule for sure.

That's how you beat Peyton in the playoffs, big turnovers.

I think my favourite play in football is when a QB has to throw a check down on a flea flicker

I'd also really like to see intentional grounding enforced anytime the QB obviously throws the ball away, even (especially) if he is out of the pocket. NFL wants more exciting plays, force the QB to make a play.

I'd love to be positive but I have zero faith in Del Rio to do anything with this D. Rushing 4 every time isn't going to cut it and right now they're getting garbage for pass rush.

Gotta make those if you're going to pull the upset.

Manning's deep balls look horrible. If the Broncos want to win they just need to give the ball to CJ Anderson
