In all of Adirondack's games I've watched, Wotherspoon is damned near ready for a call up. He's starting to look like unstoppable on the top pairing with Potter, which is how he looked at the end of last season with O'Brien.
So who sits? I think you have to bring him up at this point. Our 5/6 pairing is a weak spot on a rather good defense.
I love that Jooris and Hudler are manning the point, while Gio and Brodie are both inside the hashmarks...
Oh, and a GREAT pass by Huds to Johnny, instead of just trying to blast it through, as Cammy was actually in the correct position to block the shot.

^ Giordano: "Get the **** out of the way Jagr!" (25 second mark)

I love how Gaudreau and Gio are both there to pick up on the rebound, such a smart team. The pass from Hudler to Johhny was brilliant, to think that quickly and make such a smart pass under pressure really is not something Flames fans are used to. Hudler sells both 23 and 26 he's passing back to Brodie, damn what a game.
Just want to give a little shout out to Jaromir Jagr after this game. He was easily one of Devil's best players last night and was able to control the play for an entire shift on multiple occasions. It's unreal to think that this guy is 42 years old. Obviously I was ecstatic with the Flames comeback and win last night, but it was an honor to get the opportunity to see such a special player perform live for perhaps the last time. Really makes you appreciate what an unbelievable talent this guy is.
Great game Flames!

These wins are getting more and more improbable. It may be a sign that the wheels are about to fall off or maybe this is a team of destiny.
As good as that win felt, I agree. What's that old saying, "you start playing badly before you start losing", or something like that.
That said, I think falling behind two goals three games in a row now, I'm pretty sure the team is not ignoring their warts. This just doesn't seem like that kind of team.
I'm also somewhat comforted by the stat that our team is about as high in the standings based on points (7th) as it is in goal differential (8th). That's middle of the pack out of playoff teams, which would be a great ending to the regular season.
That doesn't seem at all like outlandish target right now, which is fantastic given how much we are relying on youth and the number of key injuries.
In other notes,
- Baertchi-Knight-Setoguchi only got 6-7 minutes of TOI. Can't fault the result, but Baertchi especially had a ton of hussle. Unless I missed some blunder, Baertchi seemed to have a very good game actually.
- Great game Glencross. Seemed to have a lot more energy than previously. (Possibly injuries are easing up?)
- The way Monahan plays, he looks like one of the veterans.
- Not that Rämö was bad, but the recent lack of great games out of our goaltenders is slightly disappointing.
- Credit to the Devils, they played a good game. They also seemed to have a good plan on how to play against us, and that's something we should expect more as the season progresses. We're back at a level where other teams will pay attention to the way we play and make adjustments to beat us.
- Jagr is a treat to watch. They seem to have good chemistry with Cammalleri too.
I think the low ice time for Svens line has more to do with playing from behind ( ie we needed goals and those guys have struggled offensively), than anything to do with Svens game. I was only listening tho.
Sven looked fine, but it was probably hard for him to get ice time when playing next to Knight (in his first game this season) and Setoguchi (who again struggled), as well as playing from behind.
Hartley said in his post-game interview that line gave them some good minutes.
I've been saying since training camp, Wotherspoon didn't need anymore AHL time period (along with Granlund). He should be here now. Engelland and Smid get shelled every time they're on the ice.

However, if you were a crusty old geezer like me, you would realize that nothing could ever compare to April 4, 1986.
The Oilers were unbeatable that year. In their first seven games, the Flames had gone 0-6-1 against Team Gretzky. Nobody expected anything different going into the final BoA of the regular season.
Final score that night: Flames 9, Oilers 3.
It was then that I realized that the Flames really could beat the Oilers. As they did in seven games later that spring (with a little help from Steve Smith).
April 4 was the night the Battle of Alberta changed forever. Up to then, it had been a one-sided slaughter. After that, the Flames would never lie down and die for the Oilers again.
Back on topic: That Flames team suffered a ton of injuries, but pulled through because of amazing depth and a never-say-die attitude — just like this one. Terrific finish to this game, like so many others!
I was there that night so I guess that makes me a crusty old geezer too Best game I have ever watched.

Just got to see the highlights in detail, after being stuck in a bar in Vancouver where they stubbornly refused to move the TVs off TSN all night. Funnily enough was watching the score on the iPhone app, and with 5 sec left thought...oh well....when the score changed to show the tie - I just about jumped out of my seat! Was then listening on my phone to the last shot of the shootout just starting when my niece pointed at my phone, showing the win!
Watching the highlights I'm amazed at two things: the short, smart passes in the scrambles on the final two goals to get the tie. Short enough they couldn't be bounced around by anyone else or intercepted..and so fast!! I got tired of watching "the old Flames" fumble for the puck because they simply didn't think fast enough to react fast enough -- not these guys. They are speedy.
The other thing was the deafening roar of the crowd on the last goal (and actually most of the time). Wow. That is great to hear! I had to give up my seasons for this year because we've moved away from Calgary -- crappy timing!! It's great to hear the faithful solidly behind the team.
He was a healthy scratch last night so hard to believe that he is very close at all.
That's not the story at all. As I wrote in the back burner forum:

Huska has been rotating defencemen the entire season to make sure they all get playing time. Sieloff has been playing the last few games, but was scratched tonight to get Culkin in who has sat for the last 4 games. Ramage played a few games ago, but sitting out now to put Stevenson in.
The "issue" is just simply too many defenceman and being many are rookies and young guys, they are playing on a rotation system. There could be a chance later one might be sent to the ECHL like Kulak just to ensure they get more playing time. The Flames just don't have spots for all the guys we have on defence.
Sieloff has actually been playing most of the games this year. He was sat last night in order to put Culkin in who had been sitting for 4 games, mostly due to the fact the team was on a winning streak.
Huska has a heck of a job right now trying to pencil in all these defencemen. We just don't have the space for them. Right now, a call-up of Wotherspoon might be welcome as one of our younger guys might be guaranteed some more playing time.
