Our families ski season is done as my son has a hockey tournement this weekend, we are away the following two weekends and then the spring sprts kick into gear.
Moved all of the polesand boots into the basement on the weekend and will put the skiis in bags and move them up into the rafters in a couple of weeks.

I'm not sure if the wife and will be wasting our time, but we've booked a weekend out at Whistler for the end of the month...

I booked my very last ski day for next friday. It's been snowing nicely lately. Not enough to make up for the worst season ever, but I'm hoping my last day is a good one!

Going to Kicking Horse tomorrow for the very first time and as my last ski day this season. Hope it's at lease somewhat decent.

I was at Kicking Horse yesterday. Pretty brutal all round. The top part was decent at best , but all you could do was stick around up there unless you wanted to dive into the slush and grime below. Definitely the very last time for me this season.

Leaving whistler a day early. Top third only has skiable snow and even that has been compromised by warm weather. Nice powder earlier in the week though

For anybody that is wondering or going up Sunday, Sunshine is in really good shape. There are some hard packed scraped parts up on Goats Eye and some places on Continental Divide, but otherwise great spring skiing.
While it was raining in Calgary, it was raining up till Goat's Eye and above that it was snowing real nice. Kinda foggy up at the top though.
I thought today might have been the last day of riding for me, but after seeing the conditions, I may get in one or two days at Sunshine...

Yup, I was at Sunshine on Saturday too and the conditions exceeded my expectations. Really good coverage and fresh areas from the snow on Friday night/Saturday morning.
Avoid the ski-out though. Especially if you're a beginner. Very large slush/watery sections. You pretty much only have maybe a 2-3 foot wide path on each side close to the edge where it's normal snow. Saw a guy fall on his ass into a big puddle as the water creates a suction effect on your board/skis. Think of a puck getting stopped on water on freshly zamboni'ed sheet of ice.
On another note, some local Banff guy died hitting a tree last week on the ski-out and I was thinking about where it happened while I was going down the run. Reports say he was a really good boarder and there's literally no trees on the run and its decently wide with good visibility. Must of got cutoff and flew off the edge into the ravine...?

If he wasn't wearing a helmet then it doesn't take much. Catch an edge and go off the run and add some bad luck and it could easily be game over.
I just got a helmet last season. Can't believe I waited that long.

I think the one news report said he wasn't wearing a lid.
I'd say 75% of people have them nowadays. Maybe even more. I've worn one for a while and wouldn't feel safe or comfortable without one anymore.
Helps that they made them less like bobble-heads now, and they are really warm and decently cool looking.

Louise was in poor shape Friday because of the warm weather. In flat sections, the heavy snow would grab your skis and almost stop you dead. I heard they had some more snow since and the back bowls were good.
Sunshine was in real good shape Saturday - they could easily be open until May long weekend. The Ski-Out is crap now.

Thanks for the update. Already ended up at Louise though. Haha wasn't by my choice. Was an okay day. They were getting a ton of snow Sunday. Not sure if it's going to freshen things up or just make a thicker crust though.

Drove through fernie 2 weekends in a row to go dirtbiking at Koocanusa. There is nothing for snow and even people at the bagel place were in snow pants but were not very interested in getting back to the hill.

Went to Sunshine today and it was great. Lots of snow and it wasn't so bad. There were some icy parts but for the most part it was smooth sailing.

I was at Marmot for the last few days. It is in good condition with a few icy patches, but a foot of snow over the last week, including 10cm overnight last night, made for great skiing today.
