Another "obscure" choice might be Target. They were advertising having the new phones in stock as well.

Those apps don't work so well in Celcius degrees. The apps can't show a negative number.

This is the first iPhone launch that I won't be attending. Went ahead and preordered the Samsung Note 4 through Rogers yesterday. At this point, it's not much of a question that the Note 4 is a much better experience than iPhone 6 Plus.....and this is coming from a Apple user since the original iPhone (7 years) and I have had every other iPhone on launch day..often unlocked. So feels kinda weird today.

|
Well you could go to any Bell, Telus, or Rogers store, buy the S5 outright from them and at the same time purchase an unlock code, which will still be less than $800. That is also starting to change though, with the Google Play devices and manufacturers like Motorola and OnePlus offering direct buying of unlocked phones through their online stores

I've been trying to backflip out of the last year of my 3 year contract for free, but appears to be impossible.
Looks like it's a 6S for me.
Could those of you nabbing one today post a few pictures? (What it looks like in hand and the sort)

Just checked out both at Best Buy. The Plus is way too big for me. Im even thinking the 6 is larger than I would like. Still, I will probably take it if my pre-order ever comes in.

Do they sell unlocked phones as well, or do those have to come straight from Apple?

They don't sell unlocked phones no, just ones on contract I believe. If they do sell ones full price they'll be locked to the carrier ($50 unlock fee).

Apologies my friend...but I look at it this way:
1) Note 4 has the better screen (2K LED vs 1080p LCD)
2) Proper multi-tasking
3) More websites seem to not work properly on iOS but work fine on Android
4) iOS 8 and Android L are eerily similar in terms of their layout and feel so there isn't much of a difference left in the simpleness of the 2 softwares. Android used to be slow, glitchy, not clean UI, and just overall klunky....but that doesnt seem to be the case anymore.
5) I don't need to jailbreak my phone to download torrents straight onto my phone....just need to install the uTorrent app from the google play store.
6) I can plug my phone into my computer via USB and a mirror phone will show up on my computer screen and be able to send messages on whatsapp, texts...etc....pretty much use my phone from my desktop screen like any other window thats open.
7) battery charges 0% to 50% in 30 minutes! and also has ultra power saving mode.
the things that i have listed are my major factors for making the choice between iPhone 6 Plus and Samsung Note 4 so from my POV and needs....it is a much better experience on the Note 4 than it is on the iPhone.
Also, these are not some gimmicks i rattled off...these are actually functional differences and features I will use on a daily basis.

Could you guys that get all butt hurt when people bring up Android quit being so sensitive? That's great if you only look at iPhone and pretend nothing else exists. There are those of us in this thread actually shopping the new iPhone against other phones and are trying to choose between them accordingly. iPhones don't exist in a bubble - we can only evaluate them based on how they compare to the other phones in the market. This is absolutely the right place for that discussion.

This thread seems to be for talking about the iPhone 6, not why some guy bought a phone that he thinks is superior to a phone he's never owned.

This is the iPhone 6 thread - let's talk about the phone, its comparables and reasons we choose to buy it or not. I'm still on the fence about getting it (have to see if I can get a lower price) so I appreciate all view points in the thread.
