And 15 off their 19 playoff games 6.5 minutes / games.
On the 82 regular season games he had over 10 minutes/ game almost the same as Bickell who only had 1 minute a game more ice time.
Bickell is 27. Jackman's great year (10 goals) was when he was 29 and he had slightly less than 10 minutes /game.
Westgarth is a light Heavy weight ... Bolling is more of a Middle weight.

27 year old player with more than 100 games of NHL experience signed for 3 years for a cap hit of 1.25 million? Skated 82 games on the defending champion and 15 playoff games?
Hell yeah you can play in our bottom 6. There's this guy people call "Nuge," not the moron with the hat who wants to shoot Hillary Clinton in the genitals, he'll be wearing blue and orange. I heard he said some really mean stuff about your mom.

Between he & Bouma there are going to be some Oilers losing sleep before the next BOA. So many crunching hits to be had...

I think Treliving's quote about the value in adding Bollig is interesting.
"We've got some young skilled guys coming and we want to make sure we have the environment for them to succeed."
Certainly sounds like adding a Bollig/Wolf/McGrattan combination of some kind is key to feeling like a Baertschi or Gaudreau can play on the team without perhaps being a target.

Burke did say, when talking about Gaudreau (paraphrasing), that he didn't mind having a tiny guy in the team as long as he was surrounded by 'beef'. He consistently added 'beef' (Westgarth, Van Brabant, Wolf) & now Treliving has drafted beef (Smith, Mattson & Carroll) & acquired Bollig.
Lots of muscle, so maybe we can read into this that they're happy to have Johnny or Sven on the roster...?

The Flames are screwed now, and Brandon Bollig isn't going to help stop a guy like Pavel Bure. Nice work, Burke. I guess we know who is really in charge.
|
So are you saying the Hawks fans are overselling Bollig when they say he is terrible?

You are right I haven't watched him much, but as I already said Hawk fans know their players better than you do and they are calling this a
"typical Burke move"
"great trade for Hawks to get anything for Bollig"
"Bollig can't even fight anymore".

Dion Phaneuf trade.
If someone read a Flames forum after that trade, they could only conclude that Phaneuf is/was the worst player ever to lace up skates.
Also, if I were a Hawk fan, I would look at it as: trading Bollig is way better than having to lose a guy like Patrick Sharp. I would be happy with the trade too.

The thing about guys that are undrafted and eventually make it to the NHL as regulars... they've busted their butt in the face of adversity to make it. That shows character, something you need on a team going through the ups and downs of a rebuild.
I have no problem with this move...

OMG, can you guys believe the Flames traded the 83 OA pick for a 27 year old non skill player???
Preventing them from drafting some player that almost none of us have ever seen play or even heard of, but we really really wanted on our team (but wouldn't have known it till we heard the name and then ran to the internet and looked him up so we could post our very passionate and informed opinion on the quality of the pick).
And don't they know they are rebuilding, which means every last move, including minor ones must be to acquire picks, cause that the only thing you do in a rebuild.
Geeze, not sure how I feel about this management team, looks like they've gone into sacrifice the future for win now mode.

UFA Stempniak for a signed Bollig isn't a bad trade though.

Meh...3 months of UFA Stempniak for 3 years of Bollig. I'd make that trade. If Stempniak was signed to a contract, then yeah I wouldn't make that trade.

Pending UFA undersized winger for a hard-working checker under contract for 3 years? Considering the make-up of our team, no - it's really not a bad trade. I'd say it's a good trade. Bollig will us continue to build an identity of being a hard team to play against.

I dont think that Andrew Ference tries to knock Bollig's teeth out.
