It's just too bad they only give these actors the job based off their names rather than an audition process to make sure they fit the vision of the writers/directors. Oh wait.

Just finished watching it tonight with my dad. I think this is the first show I've ever watched where I want to watch it all again right after I finish. That was so damn good. The raid in the ghetto and the climax in the last episode was some of the most intense television I've ever seen.

I'm really excited for the next season, I think Pizzolatto will do good things with it. Farrell and Vaughn are really interesting leads too.

As an aside, Pizzolatto's book, Galveston, is also really good.

I'm pretty sure most will be disappointed simply because the first season was so good.

2 months now. Saw the teaser on HBO Monday night. Can't wait to see Vince Vaughn in a dramatic role again. He's got caught up in this Apatow comedy culture, which he is very good at, but he's a talented guy with a lot more to offer. I'm pumped.

It's funny how hard people are being on Vince Vaughn for this role, when it's only about 2-3 years since McConaughey was nothing but a beach bum, chick flick actor.

I'm excited for season two. However I don't think there is any way it will be as good as season one.

This is what I was thinking as well. Both Vaughn & McConaughey have decent acting chops but Hollywood has pigeonholed them into specific roles. McConaughey took the opportunity with his roles in True Detective and Dallas Buyers Cub and managed to re-establish himself. Now it's time to see if Vince Vaughn can do the same.

Season 2 reviews so far have been kind of middling. Still gonna watch but I guess this lowers expectations a bit

Whenever I see the preview on HBO and I see Vince Vaughn utter the line "sometimes your worst self *dramatic pause* is your best self" I kind of mentally facepalm.

I came in with the accepted understanding that it would be extremely difficult to live up to the brilliance that was the first season.

If it's a strong story with solid performances it could me OK, but I don't think it has the possibility of matching the quality of season 1.

Fools gold. Anything more said shouldn't be necessary.

Not too sure what I think about the first episode. More people and stories to follow when compared to season 1 and I think that's holding it back.
