I think moon would be fine, but his views are too extreme. No one can be poor, they have to be garbage, people are dirtbags and scum. Zero middle ground. If he would tone down the vitriol he'd be a fine poster with an alternate perspective.

It was a garbage game today by Canada, but it's nice to see them continuously battling back and evening up the score. Matt Dumba has been the MVP of Canada so far IMO. Reinhart and Ekblad are probably close seconds.
I'm just generally unhappy with how Canada plays. It just seems so high risk, high reward. They're playing far too flashy and more often than not it's ineffective. The Americans (and I hate to give them credit) are playing a much 'harder' game and are willing to actually grind it out. The Canadians, for whatever reason, don't grind it out that often.
With that said, it's a minor setback and a good learning experience for the team. It's humbling to lose and I'm glad it happened early in the tournament if was going to happen.
I think Sutter did a good job adjusting throughout the game. McDavid had an 'off' game today, took a couple of bad penalties, so he benched him. Nothing wrong with that. Hudon had an excellent shift or two, so Sutter promoted him and he ended up scoring the game-tying goal. Reinhart played excellent all game, so he gave him ample opportunity to win it for Canada.
Overall, it was a frustrating game to watch, but not the end of the world. I think the Americans are going to give a Canada a real run for their money.

5 years later and moon still say the same things. The other countries are garbage and when Canada loses he always find an excuse.

I love the Flames, but every other nationality could be composed entirely of Calgary prospects and I would still cheer for Canada.

Still cheer for Canada but it's not as fun as it was anymore. We as Canadians have become the Canucks fans of the international hockey community. Self Entitlement everywhere. I love the loses. I desperately want Canada to become an underdog again in the fans eyes. That sense of hope IMO is lost among all the hype poured down our throats by TSN.
I love Hockey and Canada but meh. Its changed for me.

not sure how high risk it is? Its not like the Czechs were getting odd man rushes or anything.
If anything I'd like to see Canada use our skill more... not sure why we are so anti skill in our coaching. We've got the most talent... lets use it instead of cycling and firing shots from the point into shin pads all game long.

You're just as bad, if not worse with your Team Canada hate. It's not really a shock that you would show up today.

Lindholm and Forsberg returned to Sweden, Ristolainen returned to Finland.

Appears to me that Lindholm, Forsberg, Ristolainen play in the AHL when not in the NHL.

At this point I'd probably get scared if an internet forum suddenly turned reasonable and moderate in its language use.

They're high risk against good teams though. If they try the same fancy passes, spin-o-ramas and dangles against a team like Sweden, Russia or the US they'll probably be stymied and lose.
Yes, Canada has a stupid amount of talent, but if they just added a touch more grit and grind to their game, I feel like they'd be borderline dominant in this tournament.
Also, to be fair, the Czechs blocked a crap load of shots today. Kudos to them. Not much Canada could've done about that.

Moon must be the most important person here because everyone is talking about him. Can we just rename this to "a thread about moon and some other stuff".
Seriously, some of you talk about other posters more than you do about the thread topic

Its fine if you dont love junior hockey but to cheer AGAINST Canada, and cheer for their largest rival just becuase one player was drafted by the Flames is pretty low. Makes way more sense to cheer for Matt Dumba and Jt Morrisey who are actually Calgarians and learned the game here
Has Gilles even been to Calgary more than once yet?
|
Gillies has been to Calgary at least twice for development camps.
I imagine he'll be back again soon before too long.

Sorry, but going to have to defend Moon here. You are a way worse poster than him. Your homerism for Sweden is laughable and you add nothing to discussions when you do decide to show up.
At least Moon is here all the time and puts some thought into his posts.
If somebody is going to call out Moon, it better not be you.

as expected, Gillies gets the day off today. Stolarz is in net as the States are cruising to victory vs the Germans ... 6-0 after two periods. Draisaitl was ejected for checking from behind ... he's been pretty 'meh' so far in this tournament. Surely hasn't helped his draft chances. Sure, Germany is awful, but Draisaitl was A LOT better in last year's tournament.

Draisaitl is trying to lower his draft stock so the Oilers don't pick him.
6 PPG for the States today. Their PP has been ridiculous so far this tournament.
