Just heard of a friend of a friend name their girl Lisianthus, after a type of flower. Sigh. At least she'll be able to go by 'Lizzie'.

our second kiddo is due in july so my wife and i have been talking a bunch about possible names
we do not know the sex of the baby so we're trying to come up with a couple of options for boys and girls names
yesterday our conversation went something like this....
wife - if it's a boy what do you think of connor?
me - nope
wife - why not?
me - becuz mcdavid is going to the oil and there's no way i could that to my kid!
wife - seriously?? you wouldn't pick that name becuz of a hockey player?
me - yup!
wife - that's stupid. i think it's fine!
me - ok then... i vote for miikka, jarome, gio (nick-name of mark) ...and my list went on for a bit
wife - sigh

My counter for my wifes picks were from comic books.
We settled on Parker (Peter) for my son and Hadley Quinn (Harley) for my girl. It was more coincidence than anything. Turns out Hadley Quinn is a Fabio-type book author.

Hayden is a given name in the English language. The name is variant of the given name Haydn, which is derived from the surname Haydn in honour of composer Joseph Haydn (1732-1809). The surname Haydn originated as a respelling of the nickname Heiden, meaning "heathen". The name is derived from the Middle High German heiden, and from the Old High German heidano.
The form Haydn was generally considered a masculine given name up until the mid 20th century. The popularity of Hayden has been influenced by the popularity of similar sounding names such as Aidan, Braden, Caden, and Jaden.
In the United States, the name became progressively less used for males, dropping out of the top 1000 names before 1950. In the 1980s the name reappeared, but was used for both males and females, with increasing popularity. As of 2013 its popularity continues to increase for both males and females.

Here's an interesting little thing from Time: http://time.com/3856405/baby-name-popularity/
You can enter your name (or anyone else's) and the year you were born and it will tell you where it ranked on that year's list of popular baby names and also show you what name is equally popular today.

I entered my name as per my birth certificate spelling and it couldn't find any matches.
I entered the more common English equivalent of my name and it is 415th. Today, my name would be Ellis. In 1980, it would be Horace and in 1970 it would be Rodrigo.
I had to laugh, because in 1910, my name would be Manley. I actually know someone that named one of his sons Manley, but he meant it as a joke. He named his first "Charles" which means "manly", so for the 2nd one, he just went for it directly.
Anyway, interesting query.

I remembered going to a Flames game a couple of years ago and they had an Asian kid holding the sound meter on the jumbotron, and his name was Jarome Wong (or Lee or something like that). I wonder where his parents got his name from....

Another weird name: Bent. Yep. My wife texted it to me what someone named their kid. Bent Eric Lance.
Why in the world 'Bent'? When you have 'Eric Lance' (which is a straight up movie star/superhero name) sitting right there? Come on people.

Seriously?
That kid is going to be plagued by erectile dysfunction jokes for his entire life.

This is perfectly acceptable if her last name is 'Globetrotters.'

I have a nephew named Anfernee, and I know how mad he gets when I call him Anthony. Almost as mad as I get when I think about the fact that my sister named him Anfernee.
