[QUOTE=Calgary4LIfe;4413415]You greatly underrate chemistry.
Nashville has only been competitive for years because of chemistry and good coaching. Sure, they have Weber, and even Suter for a while, but it is their chemistry, coaching and work ethic that has made that club more competitive than they 'should' be.
Flames vs Detroit in the '04 playoffs. Are you kidding me? I personally put down a bet against the Wings just because I didn't think they were capable of withstanding Calgary's relentless forecheck and physical play, but Detroit's talent compared to the Flames was almost like comparing an NHL team to a decent Junior team. Flames made that run from good coaching, chemistry, and probably a bit of swagger/intimidation thrown in as well. Yes - Kipper, Iginla, Regehr - they were instrumental as well, but it was NOT talent that got that club to a phantom goal's breath of Lord Stanley.
QUOTE]
Nashville is competitive because they had 2 of the top 5 D men in the league on the ice for about 50% of the game. When they were off the ice they had Hamhuis/Klein/Gill who could protect their own end of the ice.
They also had a top 3 goalie in the league in net.
Flames had a better work ethic and were younger/faster then the Red Wings. Red Wings did have more skill but a lot of it was from aging players. The biggest difference in that series though was Kipper was much better than Cujo.
I don't think you can quantify chemistry, as a team that wins is considered to have "good chemistry" and a team that loses has "bad chemistry". To me is is the whole chicken or the egg argument.

Had forgotten about this but it is quite similar to T.J. Brodie after training camp last season.
Brodie had a bad camp and started off the season as a healthy scratch. He then got back into the line-up and worked hard to prove that he belongs.
Hopefully we see the same effort from Sven tomorrow night.

Exactly how you want the kid to respond to it. Hopefully that's actually how he feels and not just what he thinks he has to say in public, but even if it is, the fact that he has the good sense to know what the appropriate public response should be is a good sign and a good step in the right direction for sure.

Think that is why bringing in a respected mind like Burke into hockey operations is key.
Burke has the respect needed that when he criticizes one of his players they will take note and listen due to that feedback.
I think Feaster has made good moves as a GM but I am not sure he has the respect needed to play "bad cop" with his players, and you need your leadership to be able to do that every once in a while.

Message received, good on Sven. Attitude isn't an issue with the kid.
